Use technology. Make it an augmented reality statue. You can change it in different games.
Go big or go home.

I’m not a McDonald fan and I think this is really the only option if you have one. ON the other hand, celebrating a lone cup win in 1989 seems to me to be a little pathetic and Oiler like.

I would rather they build a cool fountain or water feature outside the arena rather than a statue. I don’t think there is anyone that is worthy of being immortalized in bronze. A unique water based art piece would do more for public interaction than a statue.
As mentioned, if we are doing a statue it has to be Lanny. There is no other player or moment more important to this franchise than that pose of Lanny holding the cup.

Maybe they should build a statue of the original CalgaryNext proposal so that every time we visit the crappy new arena we can all think about what could have been.

Speaking of statues, whatever happened to the ones that Flames Central had? Could probably could use those instead. They could probably take the logo as well that use to be on the Ceiling.

I need to know more. I'm not sure I've ever heard a Flames fan say this.

Proof positive once again that lawyers don't have hearts.

Unpopular opinion which I don't usually care to post because it's not ever meaningful, but I've always thought he was a bit full of himself and protective of his image, he was anti-Badger, he really only had 2.5 big seasons here and there were always other players I liked better, he was handed jobs he wasn't qualified for post-hockey and the thing with his mom's accident always bugged me.

I was never a huge fan either - don't mind him at all, just not as big a fan as many are.

The Flames were a team that very much won the cup as a collective group. They had several stars, and incredible depth, but there isn't one player that represents that group well enough.
Some sort of statue that captures this moment would be wonderful. No one player deserves to be isolated from that incredible group:

I'd be more interested in smaller statues within the building of famous flames, starting with retired numbers, FOFs and non-players like Bob Johnson and maybe Bearcat.

He has a huge ego, but he was nice enough in person (although I've heard he's been growly now and then).
But yeah he got a lot of jobs he had zero qualifications for. I blame him directly for the horrible 90s uniform with the pedestal.

Not a fan of statues. Hopefully there is room in the concourse for all sorts of Flames memorabilia and images so all sorts of Flames can be remembered and admired.
Either that, or a statue of a Dodge Ram truck. Great memories.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

If you look at the drawings for the new arena, there's a space next to the Team Store marked as "Retail-H.O.F." I assume this will be some kind of Flames team Hall of Fame/Museum.
The outside entrance to the HOF seems like a good place to move the mask...
Everything I can find about the mask says it's about 10 feet tall, so I tried to scale it to that size as best as I could estimate.
I think I would prefer murals around the concourse to statues.

Maybe we can go one step further and get the real thing to show up. Like the sports museum that the owner had in Baseketball. I'm sure Iggy and Kipper wouldn't mind.
