I'm glad Ferland got one tonight, I thought he was pretty solid last game too after replacing Jagr. Hope he shows some more consistency there because I still think he is capable of filling the top line spot.

Surprised Tkachuk shot third instead of Johnny, but it makes a lot of sense. That guy loves the big pressure moments and started the comeback with a great effort on the first Flames goal.

Really like how aggressive Smith is in the shootout, I think that works more often than not.

Bennett looked like his old self tonight, Janko made some nice plays too.

3rd Star: Ferland with a HUGE goal to tie it in the third. Some big hits as well.

2nd Star: Smith shuts the door after giving up two in the first. Love his compete level.

1st Star: Tkachuk... what more can you say? Must be a complete PITA to play against because he'll punch you in the head, score on a great individual effort, and then pot home the winner in the shootout. Beauty.

And last game was also one of our best games, final score not withstanding.

The question is if Gulutzan can resist the urge to go back to those vets, especially come playoff time.

Quote:
Your point makes no sense. Is Gulutzan a good coach for shifting the lineup
That depends on how long it lasts. So far Bartkowski and Glass have played more games than Jankowski and Kulak. I know who I would play from day 1.

Quote:
or are you putting the congratulations solely on those bottom of the roster players for changing the entire team's game?
It makes a difference. Having a guy at the bottom of the roster keep a puck in the offensive or generate a cycle opens up much easier shifts for the next line / defense pair, whereas having guys allow easy entries and get pinned in makes the next line / defense pair have to start 200 feet away from the net - the last thing you want in a game you are trailing by two goals. We simply have, before tonight, always looked inept while trailing games under Gulutzan. You have to recognize that - we're almost at 100 games now.

Jankowski wasn't called up until after last game. How was GG supposed to put this lineup on the ice?

Top line scores. Second line scores. Third line created some top notch chances. Smith was awesome.

Only caught the second half, but great to see the team get rewarded!

This was a well deserved win. Nashville was lucky to be leading through two.

As someone who has made my position on Bennett very clear on this board I am absolutely thrilled with how he looked this game and I think him and Janko could be something special. Bennett is a winger and he could very well be a great one at that.

By "enjoying" you mean complaining about the first two periods? Actually, looking at your posts, I think you do enjoy complaining.

Great comeback win and well deserved.

Best Bennett has looked in a long time...as i've said many times this guy can be a very good NHL winger.

As far as Gulutzan and the "haters" talk, one win doesn't change the fact he's a mediocre coach at best.

His system is actually not bad, but he absolutely sucks at player utilization and in game adjustments, and also gets schooled on matchups.

Unless he shows dramatic improvement in these areas (finally moving Bennett to the wing is a start) i just don't see this team realizing it's potential with him in charge.

This team could/should be a legit Cup contender not just fighting for a playoff spot.

The gifs posted earlier suggesting we somehow stole this one. (I didn't mean to imply you posted them).

I was talking about your insistence we were out-played in the 2nd, which couldn't be more wrong.

Aside from those two power-plays where they scored early we controlled the majority of that game.

Repeating what I said in the GT: I really really really want to see Bennett-Jankowski-Jagr. Bennett and Jankowski had some solid chemistry immediately, but outside of being a decent skater I don't think Lazar brings enough to deserve that spot.
