Also, I think the white background/middle was clearly the best.

Royalty free does not mean copyright free.

Royalty free just means that you pay a single price for non-exclusive use of the image rather than paying per usage. If you have paid to use the image, there are no ethical issues with using the image in the manner for which you've paid.

Even if you have paid to use the image, and are using it within the terms of service, the original image creator still holds the copyright on it.

Guys, I think its obvious what all the designs are missing so far.

Lens flares. A tonne of them.

As I said, I love alltherage's design.

It's a hockey puck combined with a speech bubble, perfect for a hockey forum. I'm not 100% sold on the blue in the text, but I'd say its about 99% perfect for CP's logo.

Considering what Bingo wrote in his original post:

Quote:
The team is completely rebuilt ... new management, a new jersey many don't like, a prospect pool pushing new players on to the roster.

More than anything else a completely different "feel".
A new direction, a new feel...A silhouette of Monahan it should be!

The ethical issue is saying you made something when you didn't. That's what I was hinting at.

There's just something about it that bugs me. I think it's because the line thingy is at an angle, while the puck is perfectly straight. Yep, actually that's exactly what it is.

EDIT: and the CP puck is a little pixelated and rough. Would be nice if it was touched up and refined.
Not trying to be an ass, but you realize that the line thingy is the blade of a stick right?

This is missing explosions. Michael Bay would be proud.

'The Lanny' was tempting (it even had the mustache!), but in the end I wanted something that brought in the new era of Flames greats (fingers crossed!)

You know for sure? Now you've got me curious. It doesn't look like the blade of a stick at all, to me. It looks like some graphic lines were put behind the puck to make it stand out more.
