Not sure who improved themselves enough from the non -play-off teams to be much of a threat and SJ sounds like they are going to take a step back.

Outside of Varlamov I don't see much reason for them to drop off. Full year of Duchene, MacKinnon getting better and Landeskog/Duchene/ROR all likely to improve or at least stay same.
they were the 5th worst team in the league in shots for/against

and had a really high PDO (shooting % + save %)

most teams that have that one year, regress the following year (like the Leafs from 2 years ago to last year)

I honestly have no problem with this. He gets three legitimate shots at the cup and becomes a UFA right around the time the Flames should be a contender again.

Yeah, believe it or not some people just don't start cheering for teams they've learned to hate over the years because a certain player joins their ranks. Iginla could have joined a number of teams and I would have been okay. But Edmonton, Vancouver, Colorado and Minnesota are off limits IMO. Sick to see him wear a hated rival's jersey.

Whose cheering for them? Colorado and Minnesota are not rivals the same way Vancouver and Edmonton are though. If he signed in Van I'd be as gutted as anyone.

Iggy made a good choice with a team that will be getting stronger and stronger over the course of his contract. He had to sign somewhere.

I look at stats and regression too much in my day job. A lot of money is made in finding reasons for events to not regress like they are supposed to. They have an underrated goalie and a jack adams winning coach. I will take the other side of that trade.

No. I think there's a limit to how long you have to follow the player and hope his team wins. I was able to swallow doing it for the Pens and Bruins, but I'm out. I'm off the bandwagon.

Hopefully the third time or team will be the charm for Jarome Iginla and his cup pursuit.

It's good that the Avs gave him a 3 year contract too, not bad money either.

A bit of a parallel to the Hossa situation too, in that he went mercenary twice and then settled down into a contract and eventually won. Maybe that happens for Iginla too.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them fall back a bit and certainly don't expect them to win the division again but even with a little regression I don't see them being in tough to make the play-offs they are still much better than Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Nashville and Phoenix.

And I know this is a touchy subject but from what I saw the Avs gave up a lot of shots but they were easy saves, anecdotal and quality shots is very subjective I know, so having a higher save percentage doesn't surprise me.

I have no problems cheering for him in Colorado. For me, there's no limit as long as it's not the Oilers, Canucks, Jets, Habs, Leafs, or the Lightning.

Their defense is also improving with the forward group, they added Tyson Barrie from their prospects recently who had a great year, Stefan Elliot is banging on the door and has a great shot to make the team this year. Brad Stuart was added today in a trade and Siemens and Bigras are coming down the pipe.

I remember when I thought being a hardcore fan was everything in life. Grade six was a great year.

Bandwagon Avs fans are the majority of what is here in Denver anyways. If it ain't the Broncos, they really don't care.

Last year could easily have been an anomaly. Do not believe in Varlamov/ Berra or their defense. It will be tough for MacKinnon to follow up on this past year. They have also just lost one of their top forwards, and a lot of team speed. They should make the playoffs but will not be a favorite.

No, we have a bunch of life long Iggy fans. Not sure why that's so hard to understand...

I'm now a huge AVs fan, no question

Who would Iggy be likely to play with?

I hope it...

Landeskog - Duchene - Iginla

though, O'Reilly and Mackinnon are other obvious possibilities
