I see the Mets have had to put Syndergaard on the DL now. So another young pitcher with that same group of muscles strained which tends to lead to Tommy John surgery.

Really the Jays have a usable backup catcher in Thole, and a guy in Dickey who despite his struggles can still throw 200 innings and at least win half his starts and is doing so for a pretty reasonable price by the standard that is MLB starting pitchers to show for that trade of D'Arnaud and Syndergaard. Can't really blast Anthopolis for that move.

It's getting interesting in Los Angeles. One day after Beckett throws a no hitter, Hyun-jin Ryu has a perfect game through 7 innings.

something ridiculous.

Both Yankees and O's lose tonight, O's lose on a walk-off double by Gallardo THE PITCHER pinch-hitting in the 10th.

Lincecum no-hitting the Cubs after 5 innings. He has already thrown 96 pitches, so I don't see him finishing this game.

This Redsox-Rays rivalry is really heating up. Farrell has already been ejected after Price drilled Ortiz in the 1st, and now Price has hit Carp. He came close to hitting Boegarts earlier as well.

Not sure how Price didn't get ejected after already getting a warning in the 1st.

Farrell, Lovullo, and Butterfield have all been ejected. The Sox are on to their 4th manager of the game.

They have the most wins and the best record in baseball, and now the Giants have the No. 1 spot in our Power Rankings, too. San Francisco displaced its Bay Area rival in Oakland atop the rankings, bumping the Athletics down to No. 2. The Blue Jays continued their climb by moving up to No. 3, and the Brewers and Tigers round out our top-five at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.

Profar reinjured his shoulder in rehab and will be out the rest of the season.

Matt Harrison has had disk fusion surgery and his career is likely over.

Add this to Prince Fielder being out the rest if the season and a DL longer than the active roster, I'm calling the Ranger's season now.

Washington should rest Darvish the rest if the season to insure he doesn't get injured. Then again Holland needed surgery after tripping over his dog, so I guess no one is safe.

Imagine if this team was healthy…

Don Zimmer passed away today. Such a fixture in MLB for so many years.......he was involved in baseball for over 60 (60!!) years.

My most vivid memory of him was when he was involved in that brawl against the Sox years ago and tossed to the ground by Pedro Martinez. Such a strange incident to watch, but kudos to the guy for being a battler.

Amazing throw by Yoenis Cespedes to nap Kendrick at the plate from 300 feet away. The video is in the espn story.

He had been battling cancer of the salivary gland for 4 years.

I cheered for the Padres while he played, I loved watching him hit.

Right now I wonder how the Tigers are feeling about how much money they owe Verlander going forward. He's been a touch better than steaming hot fecal matter so far this season. Is it just a slump...or is he starting to show a bit of wear after throwing around 1800 innings by the end of last year.
