Summary so far:

Had to put that line up out there
Will kick himself for a long time putting Lain out there but he had to do it
He would do it again if he had to
He's apologized to all the guys involved in the scrum
Will not comment about the Flames hallway event
Unsure about any NHL discipline for events on/off ice

Torts is talking about how everything he did had to do with protecting his players.

He told Sedin to take his gear off after the second and stay in the room
Felt his team stuck together for the win

Probably pulled aside and told not to say anything about the incident.

So watching the replay at the beginning of the game. Hrudey was even saying Calgary putting the energy line to change their game with their struggles lately. Then the PBP guy mentioned the visiting team submits their starting lineup ahead of time. So, clearly I didn't think Hartley had any intention on 5 on 5 brawl especially when he put in Smid and Butler on D. If the intention is there, he would have put SOB as Smid's partner. The blame I think should be Torts for countering with tough guys. If he put in his first line, none of these brouhaha would happen. If you are McGrattan or Westgarth, how would you feel if you see Sestito and that tough guy they just called up on the ice at the beginning of the game. Torts got the nerves to be ticked off.

I can see where he was coming from at the beginning of the game. Tough situation. Hartley baited him and got what he wanted.

Tortorella still should have refrained from the confrontation in the intermission, but I understand his mindset.

Gotta hand it to Torts, he handled that well, and his response made sense. He was backed into a corner, and full up admitted he was wrong to and hugely regrets putting a rookie in that situation. But the rest of it had to be done to protect his top line guys.

I will confess to always liking Tortorella, I always have appreciated his candour, and no BS attitude. He is just the wrong coach for that bunch of twerps on the coast.

Huge double standard after what he did with Sestito against LA. Sestito was definitely going to fight. Clearly anything he says would be extremely hypocritical.

I didn't realize their history with TB/ATL in the past but it makes sense

two stubborn guys and if one of them had backed down with the lineup I am sure nothing happens at all

Hartley will probably get a fine for Kevin "1st line Center" Westgarth

Torts will get a fine and probably a short suspension for the bench incident (unless he actually did something physical off camera in which case it might be longer)

Wow, that Nucks team is going nowhere but down. They barely beat the third worst team in the league, needing a shoot out to do it. If they manage to hang on to 7 or 8 place, they will likely be another 4 straight games and done team.

They are just bad at hockey and trending down. I hope they sell the farm hard for the playoff push, then fail miserably yet again.

This seems fair.

Fine for goading Torts, fine for responding to it in kind and coming to chat to Hartley in the intermission.

Moral victory?

Lol

Somewhere Brian Burke has a huge grin on his face. Hartley might have even earned himself the opportunity to start next season as head coach.
