Women's final is tomorrow, Men's final is Sunday.

Just curious what you're basing your expectations on? Today was really the first disappointing day for Canada, IMO, with two medal hopefuls missing out. Overall it seems like we're at or better than the pace the COC was predicting.

What was the COC's estimate for our gold count?

I love it when people say Canada is disappointing.

How are they ? Their stated Goal was to place top 12 in Medals and currently they are sitting in 12th.

Shut up about Canada disappointing us and cheer for your country and the sacrifice these athletes have put in to be here.

^^^

Its probably due to zero golds. I wonder what a reasonable expectation for that is

The girl that just ran the 10000m looks like she could run another 10000m.

Walk in the park. With 600m left she put on the afterburners.

That race event is ridiculous, seeing how much energy those Africans have.

Fairly typical inflated Canadian expectations. Nothing wrong with hoping for Gold but understand that characterizing their efforts as "disappointing" is unfair. The fact that they're in the Olympics is awesome in my opinion.

Good to see the Women's Soccer team go through. They seem like a talented group and with the disappointment of the WC nice to see them have some success here.

Although that goal by Sinclair was a little painful to watch (great as a Canadian fan but tough as a fan of soccer.) Surprised a fan didn't come out of the stands and stop it considering how long it took to bounce in.

Idiotic. If you feel they're disappointing than your expectations were out of line with reality - they're on pace to finish right on target with the COC's goals at basically the halfway point of the games.

Must be exhausting to go through life with the glass half-empty mentality.

It's absolutely crazy how 2-3 Countries can be so dominant in one discipline. It's not like other African nations are any good, only Kenya, Ethiopia, and the occasional Morocco or whatever.

Then when it comes to the sprint events they are non-existent. It's just amazing to witness. They were lapping almost the entire field.

I think Canada has done fine in the Olympics, probably not ahead of everyone's expectations, but solid numbers.

However, not ending up with one gold medal would disappointing as it's always great to honor the best in the world in their specific event.

The whole medal count thing is contentious at best.

Do you rank according to gold medals or total medals? Based on total medals, Canada is indeed in 12th spot. However, a cursory glance at the table when gold medals are the primary index and Team Canada is in 29th spot. Figures, tables and statistics like this are highly malleable and can be utilized to prove or disprove any side of the argument.

For me it is nice enough that they are able to compete at all.

that was incredible to see. Amazing athletic display she didn't even seem tired. Besides incredible conditioning she must have next to zero pain threshold. Most of the competitors were winded, wincing in pain and that Ethiopian athlete was like ho hum can I run some more.

It's a weird setup - the first match on centre court is at 12pm BST Saturday (I guess that's 5am MDT for you guys), which is the Mixed Doubles QF (Robson-Murray-GB v Stosur-Hewitt-AUS).

The Women's singles final follows this.

So I guess it depends how long the QF game takes.

Hopefully it's not as long as the Tsonga v Raonic game which I had the misfortune to be present at this week. It was fun for a while, but got a bit tedious fairly quickly. I was cheering Milos on the whole way, but ultimately came up short.

No idea about the Men's final on Sunday. Looks like Mixed and Women's doubles still to be decided on the Sunday, so it could be wedged in between two other finals.

Obviously the weather is key for Sunday. If weather forces the roof closed, then they might as well not even have the Final, just give Federer the gold, we all know he's not losing indoors. Outdoor match gives Murray a better chance. But with it being 5 sets on Sunday, I think Federer will be tough to beat.

It always annoys me when people get angry with Olympic athletes who have train with little fan fare for years while they sit on their couch eating Cheetos.
