LOL. You didn't want to sit with my late dad or my late father in law at a restaurant if some guy a few tables over had a hat on. That would be the dinner topic for the evening.

I should have prefaced the comment saying that it doesn't matter if it is a Catholic highschool or public one, or even a school at all. Also, it's not like I have a major problem with his hat either.
I just thought that since the school is honoring him & retiring his jersey, probably could have wore something more appropriate for an event like that sans hat.
For the record, I am in my 20's and I ain't no old man.

I had my first trade-related nightmare last night...I dreamed that we traded Johnny and Sean for magic beans. Then I woke up and realized that we were past the deadline and Brad doesn't have brain aneurysms.

He wears that outfit in almost every single video I see him in, even at the ASG. It's like his uniform for off-ice. It's probably his favorite. Sure, maybe he should be wearing a suit or something but it kind of makes sense that he might want to look younger or relatable to kids at his old highschool.

We don't know what the attire is at that school. It would look weird if he was the only one wearing a suit.
I'm in my 20's too and I agree, I think I'd wear something a bit more formal but I don't think it's outrageous that he wore street clothes.
It's a grade school ceremony.

I hate making this into a big deal, and I don't want to sit here critiquing what some dude wore. Just an observation at the time.
It didn't have to be a suit but it didn't need to be the backwards hat look either.
Something in between would be fine. Moving on.
PS: Seeing bieber meet the PM wearing what he wore made me want to assault him. Even more than normal.

This is the official school attire...
Not saying he should have worn a suit but he should have left the hat in the car.

If I was forced to dress like that every day for multiple years I can't blame the dude for wearing a hat backwards.

He's a budding superstar who also happens to be a man now, not some little boy.. (well.. haha)
He can dress how he wants. It wasn't outrageous or rude. Give it a break.

I grew up where wearing a hat at the dinner table was NOT acceptable attire. To this day, its so engrained in me that I actually feel extremely uncomfortable wearing at hat while eating a meal at the dinner table. Somewhat like driving without wearing a seat belt... or better yet, driving a motorcycle without a helmet on.
But then again, when I was young, you actually dressed up for special occasions... ie. going to church, going out to dinner, going to a wedding, etc.
Now people go out wearing ratty blue jeans and a t-shirt to all three of those examples. People take a lot less pride in their appearance than they used to.

To you it doesn't to me it does. We just have difference of opinion on what is appropriate attire. No big deal.
And by the way, he's not a kid. He's a 21 year old professional hockey player who is representing the Flames organization in every public appearance.... not that I suspect the Flames have a problem with the hat either.... its just me and my antiquated views on the way you should dress for a public occasion where you are main event and honoree.

What??? The two posts (one of which you thanked) where wearing a hat at a dinner table was mentioned, is just too overwhelming for you? Stop acting like such a drama queen. Take a valium and calm down.

I browse this site for good updates and quality hockey discussion, but seriously I wonder if Johnny wore boxers or briefs to his HUGE highschool event.... I feel boxers would not be appropriate due to the off chance there might be a picture taken where there would be a noticeable line through his jeans, since this was nearly the oscars I hope he had briefs.
Give it a break.... slow hockey day for some of you I think. What a ridiculous calgarypuck argument.
