Edvinsson sounds like another Hanifin, no? Or who is a better comparable?

I think this is the only list that has Cossa ahead of Wallstedt. That's interesting
I wouldn't be upset if we picked Wallstedt at 12. Not sure if I'd feel the same way about Cossa

I like that comparison-Edvinsson is big and fast, a good 200ft player, but not the most physical. I also wonder about his offensive ceiling in the NHL. Still a great prospect.

For context, Pronman doesn’t really rate anyone in the top end of the draft highly in most categories. Here is his overview of number one ranked Owen Power:
Quote:
Owen Power, LHD, Michigan-Big Ten
Nov. 22, 2002 | 6-foot-6 | 213 pounds
Skating: Average
Puck Skills: Below-average
Hockey Sense: Above-average
Compete: Average
Power had a great freshman season as one of the best defensemen in his conference while also one of its youngest, and played a key role for Canada in its gold medal run at the world championships. Power’s offensive toolkit won’t jump out immediately to you, but a 6-foot-6 defenseman who can skate at the NHL level and move the puck well is a major asset. His skating isn’t explosive, but his stride and edgework are excellent, and he can evade pressure very well. Power’s offense comes from a great first pass and an ability to find seams in the offensive zone well. I question if he will be a go-to power play type, but I can for sure see him on PP2 and can be PP1 in a pinch. Defensively he’s not that physical, but he closes on checks well with his range and reach, and breaks up a lot of plays. In a sentence, Power projects as a star all-situations NHL defenseman who won’t land on highlight reels but will play tough minutes and drive play.

That makes sense. Probably had McDavid with above average.

Does anyone ever do a post draft analysis to see which draft ranking came the closest to the actual outcome?

Someone had done this on hf a few years ago, but I searched for it last year and couldn't find it at all. Iirc McKenzie did the best over time, but it was all a crapshoot.

That's because what McKenzie does is talk to team scouts and aggregate that. His purpose is to predict the 1st round.
Pronman and Button and others aren't trying to do that. The lists are their own based on their talent evaluations.
Apples and oranges.

Yeah, if it doesn’t match up, Pronman would say the teams messed up, not him.

Lysell down.
Lucius up.
Wallstedt creeping towards the Calgary pick range.

You take Lambos out of that list and I'm a happy draft camper. If that's who the Flames get to pick from.

My thoughts exactly. When Tkachukwagon posted that description from Pronman I instantly thought of Hanifin when he was a prospect.

At this point I really want Sillinger. A compete 180 from my position 2 weeks ago.

Why's that?
Top 3 for me based on who could be available:
Lysell
McTavish
Lucius

I wish teams would do this for their own list, and make it public, even if it is just a sugar-coated version to give fans some of the rankings that they got right. I love the Kucherov/Gaudreau story. Fans still talk about it 10 years later.
Which scouts are good talent evaluators, which one over rate or under rate prospects. Which scouts take risks, which scouts play it safe - you likely want a mix of both on your staff
It would be fascinating to learn who the Flames have as 'wildcard' selections each draft, how close were they to getting them, 5 years later - did the player pan out etc

When I saw that he was comparable to Mark Scheifele that is was sealed the deal for me.
That is exactly what we need.

In this case "Average" means "NHL Average". So somebody who is 6'4" and skates as well as the average NHLer is actually going to be pretty quick for his size.

Added another ranking from lastwordonsports ...
That's 17 now (not including the two CSB rankings).
Starting to see a narrowing of that Flames first round pick area ... Lambos and Raty falling off a bit leaving four likely names Lysell, Lucius, Sillinger and Mctavish in that order.
Player Pick Avg
Jesper Wallstedt 9.4
Fabian Lysell 11.7
Chaz Lucius 13.4
Cole Sillinger 14.1
Mason Mctavish 14.2
Aatu Raty 15.9
Carson Lambos 16.6
Nikita Chibrikov 19.6
Fyodor Svechkov 21.4
Matthew Coronato 21.9
