Pretty funny comments by Giants Kayvon Thibodeaux regarding the terrible forward progress call in the Giants / Eagles game today. 'That was a great call by the ref'. About 40 seconds in
Carson Wentz done for the season with an injury to his non throwing shoulder. He was pretty much the sacrificial lamb last week for the Vikings. If they don't start getting better play on the offensive line, they'll burn through McCarthy plus another by the end of the season.
Patrick Surtain II also to IR for 4 to 6 weeks with a torn pec. So that's a key cog missing from what's one of the better units in the NFL.

man, those last two Steelers game were tough to watch. Tomlin today went "defense needs no dramatic changes, it's just details" and said he was "largely pleased" with the DCs work (of course, given Tomlin basically runs the D).
I'm so over Tomlin. Team needs wholesale changes in the coaching staff, trade the aging core and tank for a couple of years.

I get that you are tired of the low ceiling but tanking doesn't guarantee anything as the Steelers could easily become the next Browns, Raiders, Jets, Giants, Colts, Cardinals, etc. As a Raiders fan I get jealous of fans that get to be invested into a full season of football even if it doesn't end in a deep playoff run or Super Bowl. Season is over already for several teams and once you tear it down, there's no guarantee you climb out of the hole.
If Tomlin were on board with a tank then it'd be worth keeping him. But it's like eight years now of 9-10 win purgatory, with that fraudulent 11-0 start mixed in. I know the Steelers are a very prideful organization (too much so, frankly), but at some point you gotta mix it up even if the risk is you'll be the Jets for a few years. Cause being capped at first round fodder really isn't much better than the perpetual humiliation of the Jets.

I get it. I also get the "careful what you wish for" sentiment when it comes to firing Tomlin, but I'd rather take that risk than stay in "9-8 and a first round loss" purgatory forever.

I expect to be simultaneously furious and unsurprised.

The state of NFL officiating is a complete mess right now. It's crazy a sport that makes so much money doesn't even pay officials full time salaries. From what I have read, turnover is high right now because the morale got so low under Walt Anderson who was accused of micromanaging. Players used to typically receive 4-5 downgrades per game on average and would work on correcting those issues but under Anderson it got to 15-20 per game and officials just start tuning them out as noise. I have to admit that it can't be great to show up for work that's constantly surrounded in criticism and negativity from fans, players, coaches, and people inside the building. The NFL's response to the high turnover was to move Anderson out and bring in a couple of lower level VP's (paid $215k-315k) to oversee the officials. That seems like pretty low pay for such important roles.
Maybe it's me but they might get better retention and more incentive to improve if the salaries were increased where officials with merit and experience could earn at least $500k per season which is a drop in the bucket for the NFL.

Pete's at the top because they're always losing this year. No reason to play it safe.

So looks like the script this year was for Lamar Jackson to lead the Ravens to the Superbowl after a 1-5 start. Not sure if that will go down that way, but looks like a foregone conclusion that the Ravens will rally and win the AFC North right now.
Dolphins...well between a first quarter fumble at their own 10 by Washington, a missed field goal, an absolutely one sided tripping call that took a 40 yard gain away, and a terrible 4th and 2 play late in the first half. All that killed morale and the Ravens ran away in the second half. If you play fantasy you love having Ravens on your team because every other team would pull starters up 22 with the ball and under 4 minutes left. The Ravens still try and pad their stats.
