Rubbish movie, a little bit far fetched for my likings.

The movie has no surprises - you pretty much know what you will be getting before you walk in.

I saw the late show of this last night, didnt realize it was almost 3 hours, that was a mistake
I would give it 5/10, the special effects were decent but the story was bad

From what I've seen in the previews it doesn't even look like it makes a unch of sense, just a special effects orgy.
I'm anti-disaster movie anyway, it was interesting when you had movies like ID4, but it's gotten ridiculous in recent years. Plus I hate all the misinformation/fear flying around about 2012 and I can't support that.

Is this something like "The Core"- the kind of movie where you should really just forget everything you know about science and physics and just enjoy the show?

So I put off seeing this move till last night.....I should have put it off altogether. It did meet my expectations all the way thruhowever. Unfortuanately, I had very low expectations..... Bad acting, horrible characters bad far fetched story, mediocre effects, cliche twists and turns, awful one liners from supposed "comic relief" characters. But I've always been a proponent of movies like this having redeemable qualities if the action is good. To be honest, I was really bored by the destruction scenes. I didn't find them at all entertaining.
A very average movie for this genre. Better than Emerich's last debacle in The Day After Tomorrow, but Christ, I could have made a better movie than that.
5/10

I think Ebert said it best:

"2012" delivers what it promises, and since no sentient being will buy a ticket expecting anything else, it will be, for its audiences, one of the most satisfactory films of the year.

You know going in that it is going to be heavy on special effects and stretch your credulity.
That is what I expected going into it, and that is what it delivered. Would I see it again? No, I wouldn't even rent it again. But for a pure popcorn flick movie to see lots of explosions on the big screen, this delivers.

It wasn't bad but they should have used the Planet X (Nibiru) theory instead of solar flares causing the pole shift. Watching a companion star enter our solar system and causing gravitational havoc on our planet would have been a lot more fun to watch IMO.

It's too bad it wasn't also a disaster at the box office. It make boatloads of cash which guarantees boatloads of crap like this in the future.

This is one of the few times i'm going to disagree with Ebert. For the most par I respect his movie reviews but I think he's way off this time.
