Am I the only one who finds this match a little boring? There have been very few exciting games. I wonder if technology and player evolution has made grass obsolete as a surface (or will). Way too few breaks of serve (or even threats to break) to be entertaining, IMO.

This match has been one of the top 4 matches i've seen.

Federer-Nadal last year at the Wimbledon final.

Agassi-Sampras in the 2001 US Open Quarterfinals.

Agassi-Blake in the 2005 US Open Quarterfinals.

I don't think threats to break is a good indicator of match entertainment. A lot of people including myself hate the french open because while there's a lot of chances for breaks, points are 20-30 stroke baseline rallies with an unforced error at the end of it. Here, we have a good balance of aces, winners, net play as well as the rare baseline rally.

However, I wish there was some way to make the grass more durable. By the 2nd week (or at times, the 2nd day), the grass is torn up and makes for a very inconsistent surface.

Championship point 1!

Federer breaks Sampras' record and now has 15 major victories! I think at worst Federer is now the 2nd best player of all time.

Federer/Laver in my mind are the two best to ever play the game.

What a terrible end to what could have been a great match.

Those long 5th sets are cool but it is too bad to see a guy lose a match rather than the other guy win it.

Either one could have won it and either one deserved it. Nobody played bad today.

Federer is now ranked #1 again in the world.

Now that Federer has the record, I want Roddick to win the US Open. Poor guy deserves a championship after this tournament.

That was epic. I was pulling for Andy, but Roger is a machine.

Roddick actually deserved that, I thought.

Props to Roger for pulling through once again, though. Greatest of all time.

Looked like Federer hardly broke a sweat, while Roddick was soaking wet.

Great match. 4 hours 19 minutes of solid entertainment. 50 aces for Federer! Wow!

Great match! The women's and men's matches this year were so closely contested, it couldn't have been scripted any better.

I went to Wimbledon yesterday and the weather has been great all tournament this year, of course it would be, they spent a fortune building a roof.

Am I the only one who noticed how pissed off Roddick looked when Federer gave him the old 'I've been on the losing end before' line?

The crowd seemed to laugh when Roddick said something about Federer already having all of those wins, but I'm pretty sure Andy wanted to kill him at that point.

Yeah I noticed that too.

I'd love to see Roddick finally win there one day. Especially if he beats Federer to do it.

I've never really liked Roddick, probably because that lucky SOB used to date Mandy Moore, but I've found him growing on me. He's got an incredible drive and he's been so close so many times I'd like to see it rewarded.

That and I read an article about him playing a set against a reporter with a frying pan instead of a racket. He won easily.

Andy Roddick was as good as a player can be through 6 and 1/2 sets. That was awesome tennis - have to give him props.

Having said that, I was thrilled when Roger won. He was his classy self as always and 15 looks good on him.

Yeah. The zoomed in on Roddick afterwards and you could see him roll his eyes as if to say "Are you $)*$)*$ kidding me right now?"

He didn't seem pleased at all.

That said, what a match. It's great to see Federer get the historic win.. but Roddick was a warrior out there. Gutsy of him to hold serve repeatedly in the 5th set with the championship on the line.

whenever the camera zooms in on roddick though he looks pissed.

He probably wasn't pissed at Roger, he was probably trying to yell at a ball boy or linesmen or something. His MO is to blame everyone but himself, so lets see if he sucks it up this time or not.
