Is your boss the manager at Joey Tomatoes? I'm pretty sure they are the only place that would require a pic and where a short skirt would be compulsory.

If I was walking down the street and dressed in a police uniform and some one ran up tp me screaming, "Police! Police!" they would be shocked to when I said "oh no I'm not a Cop." So you may not be a hooker but you are wearing the uniform.

When she was standing still, no. When she was walking, yes. This was before the days of thongs though, so you just saw tighty whiteys.

Back at one of my places of employ, HR had to send a memo to everyone about appropriate attire, as some female employees would be, um, solicited by drivers when they stood outside the building.

A girl came in for an interivew for an office job in a short, denim skirt? Hahaha what a tramp!

That'd be like a guy walking in to an interview in a muscle-shirt.

I think its funny all the people saying "oh it shouldn't based on her outfit, its just on her skillz." how a person dresses tells me a lot about that person including their upbringing, self awareness, possibly their current social status and in this case it could be a warning that I'm not hiring a person used to working hard for success but rather prefers its handed to her by a throng of clamoring men. Whom I hire and how they look would depend on the job. If they are going to be on the phone or greeting many high powered male executives, then *ding*hot short skirt wins. if I need someone that will need to work very hard and know her stuff then I want the educated girl that knew enough to come dressed respectful of the position she was interviewing for.

To say clothing has nothing to do with the interview is silly. Of course it does and if it doesn't you probably should hire some to do interviews for you as you are terrible at them.

I have a lot of trouble with assesing credibility when someone comes to an interview with face piercings. Especially if they're part of the public face of the company.

Well saying a short denim skirt, does not imply "slut" to me. i think most people are fairly quick to jump into conclusions. If its washed out color, then yeah maybe it is too casual, but if its fairly dark jean, then you might not even notice its denim, unless you pay great attention to it from close up.

I think a woman can still look great, and not "slutty" wearing a short skirt. A lot of girls will call her slutty, because they are catty by nature, and the only guys who would call her slutty, would be guys who are not accustomed to having beautiful woman around them, and will automatically call her a slut.

Its like if a girl walks into a class and does not talk to anyone. If she is hot, everyone assumes be-yach, and if shes not, everyone assumes shy. People tend to judge attractive women by a different rule.

Short skirt/shorts = un-professional (in nearly all offices).
Low cut tops/t-shirts = un-professional (in nearly all offices).

There is no debate on this. If I were in the hiring chair and some dude walked in wearing shorts, he wouldn't have a bloody chance. Same goes for a girl in a short skirt (even if she's wearing a long jacket...).

Basic rule of thumb for girls: whatever you're wearing, it goes to the knee. Any higher and you aren't going to be taken seriously. And yes, this includes those ridiculous "dress shorts". Capris are too damn silly to be professional as well. Save it for the casual wardrobe.

While I'm at it: YOGA PANTS ARE NOT DRESS PANTS.

I agree with the rest of your post, and I also agree it doesn't automatically mean "slut". But wearing a short jean skirt to an interview for an office job definitely shows a lack of professionalism, and could also lead to indicators of a lack of class. It'd really make me question a person's character and decision making skills if they showed up to that type of professional interview dressed like that.

If it's hot out, you can wear alot of light, airy fabrics that are still professional, there's no need to bust out the tiny jean skirt. Obviously we have no idea what she was thinking, but at least from my point of view, she was trying to get leverage by "showin off the goods". Doesn't sound like the kind of person I'd want to hire in that type of atmosphere, unless, like someone mentioned earlier, she's only there to sit up front and greet other people coming in.

Depends, Small nose ring on a female, no biggy... it was fairly trendy for a while... maybe still is... as long as its not gawdy and an obvious attempt to shock or grab attention then its just an accesory and would not affect my opinion anymore than earings do...

That said if it's a freaking bone with a chain running to the tribal-esk earhole and eyebrow piercing then I have no troubles there either. Sorry you had a rough life (you think) and decided to take it out on your face, the star bucks or gas station you will be working at for the rest of your life is two blocks south of here.

But I thought of something after my last post... I think someone said something about this interview being in Florida... have to remember we live in a cold land locked city (most of us) the cultural differences here versus a warm climate beach city are staggering. A girl walking downtown Calgary in a bikini would stop traffic and probably cause accidents at construction sites. whereas bikini clad women in a beach front city are fairly common and are something people just get used to... so we are probably at the extreme end of the conservatism here. I think you need to take the climate and cultural tenancies into account. A short denim skirt is scantily clad here, but if she lives and breathes life on the beach (nothing wrong with that imho, no different than being a skiing or boarding junky) then perhaps a short skirt is lots of clothing given what she is used to.
