Had an idea!

Important alert. I just came across this.
Quote:
Limiting egg consumption has little effect on cholesterol levels, research has confirmed.
A University of Surrey team said their work suggested most people could eat as many eggs as they wanted without damaging their health.
The researchers, who analysed several studies of egg nutrition, said the idea that eating more than three eggs a week was bad for you was still widespread.
But they said that was a misconception based on out-of-date evidence.

A paper published this week dispels the myths around eggs and cholesterol and confirms that UK health and heart organisations have lifted the limits on eggs as there is no conclusive evidence to link their consumption with increased risk of coronary heart disease.

Of course, they still seem to think that there is a problem with eating saturated fats, when in fact there is no scientific evidence to prove that saturated fats are bad for you.
At least according to Gary Taubes.
See why you can't trust Health Check?

What about something along the lines of Denis Leary's idea for a psychology practice:
Eat your f***in' eggs! Get the f*** out. NEXT!
I love the egg idea, but I have to have my yolks.

And if you ask what I mean by saying saturated fats aren't bad for you....
Saturated fat increases HDL and LDL both, thus ratio doesn't change.
Polyunsaturated lower both, thus ratio doesn't change.
Monounsaturated fats raise HDL, lower LDL, thus improve ratio.
Trans fats lower HDL, raise LDL, thus worst of all worlds.
And the ratio between HDL and LDL is more important than the numbers for either one.

Do the egg-salad samdwich with whole grain bread and without the miracle whip.
Sure, it might take a while to get used to the taste, but there is nothing wrong with whole grains, and there is nothing wrong with eggs.

I love eggs and would eat them every morning if it wasn't for the studies saying to limit them and their effect on cholesterol. I will have to take a closer look at those studies above and see if things have changed. Would love to be able to eat eggs everyday without negative effects.

I would say increase your egg consumption for a certain period of time, than go get a cholesterol test done.
If your numbers increase, make sure you still have a strong ratio between HDL-LDL.

Eat fat to loose fat.
Quote:
Diets too low in fat may be responsible for stubborn bulges on bellies, thighs and butts, according to a new study.
Dieters trying slim down by following extremely low-fat diets may be causing the exact opposite results, according to new research from the Washington University in St. Louis. Eating at least small amounts of dietary fats, such as fish oils, might be a better way to kick-start fat-burning, say researchers.

The simple explanation why....
Quote:
"We thought we would alter the levels of fats that circulate in blood," he said. "Instead we found you need to generate new fat to make a signal to burn fat in the liver."

I don't enjoy eggs...in any form. I haven't since I was a kid. I don't like the taste, texture, or smell.
I probably shouldn't have posted this considering the odds are that I'll be ducking flying white projectiles. However, if you were true egg lovers you wouldn't waste them by throwing them at me. So there.
Also, just an FYI, please don't egg people's cars and houses. The albumin destroys paint. My car has been egged twice (in the run of 3 months) and not because they found out that I didn't like eggs. They occurred while I was driving -- very dangerous when driving 80 km per hour and can't see because my windshield is covered with egg. Also it doesn't wash off with the windshield wiper fluid...it just smears more and more.

Also as an adjuster, I had a claim worth thousands of dollars caused by people egging other people's houses and damaging the siding. If you get caught for it, the insurance company will go after you and have you pay them for it and will sue you if you don't pay it. IMO, that is far more scary than the little fine that you'd get from the criminal justice system.

Yeah, but its still funny.
I only ever egged the cars of teachers in high school that I didn't like.
Of course, considering the whole school didn't like them, they had no idea who it was.

I have to shake my head at all the people doing 'isolation' exercises, instead of heavy, compound lifts.
Is it really that important to have huge biceps, but a weak back, and small shoulders?
Of course, its still not as funny as those people with massively ripped upper bodies, but something slightly worse than chicken legs posing as their lower body.
Is there a reason the squat gets ignored and vilified? The single 'best' exercise known to mankind, and people are scared? Start with light weights, learn proper form, and go heavy. Not only is it beneficial physically....as the hormones releases by doing a heavy set of back squats are notorious for fueling growth on ALL your muscles, but its also beneficial metabolically.

I've mentioned the benefits of HIIT on here a LOT of times already, but I have to bring it up.
Building your cardiovascular endurance up to the point where you can run 5+ miles at a time is pointless if you're doing it for weight loss. HIIT, for 20 min, gets a better response metabolically from your body than LIIT training EVER will.
Of course, there are people who love to run, and I'm not trying to take anything from them. An accomplished runner should be proud of their dedication to keep their routine. But if you're new to the fitness world, HIIT is a much better option.
Trainers like Mark Rippetoe think people that run 10 miles for 'fitness' are idiots. He is rather blunt, but the guy has a point, even if he has a narrow-minded approach. Lift weights or do CF if you want to be fit. And just because you lift weights, it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get 'big' or 'ripped.'
You only gain muscle if you 'eat' like you want to gain muscle.
Crossfit is fast becoming an extremely popular training method. And why not? Its fun, challenging, interesting....and you can push yourself like nothing else.

You're welcome.
And the fact that eating a 8 egg omelet goes directly against what a useless organization like healthcheck says, I applaud you.
