!!!! I keep thanking instead of quoting!

Anyways, I don't have stats on-hand, but it's a pretty well-known fact than gang-related violent crimes often go unreported.

The problem is the so called innocents want to take drugs for whatever "crutch" reason they can come up with. Bystanders getting smoked is just a offshoot of the real problem.

Oh okay. That makes sense.

There has always been some sort of criminal underground with people who didn't deal with the cops though. Do the statistics stand up for the rest of society?

I'd say as a completely unsupported statement that it probably depends on the health and organization of the community being affected by crime. I bet that Mount Royal reports close to 100% of crime, while Forest Lawn/Falconridge probably report a small fraction of local crime.

As well, if you look at alot of recent immigrant communities that are the source of some of this gang violence, there is probably a decreased trust/understanding of legal institutions such as the police.

As an anecdote, I've been involved with the support of a Burmese refugee family since their arrival in Canada about 16 months ago. It took them months before they would even go near a police officer in uniform. I still don't think they would have any notion to go to the police with any problems.

Malone: You said you wanted to get Capone. Do you really wanna get him? You see what I'm saying is, what are you prepared to do?
Ness: Anything and everything in my power.
Malone: And *then* what are you prepared to do? If you open the can on these worms you must be prepared to go all the way because they're not gonna give up the fight until one of you is dead.
Ness: How do you do it then?
Malone: You wanna know how you do it? Here's how, they pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way, and that's how you get Capone! Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that?
Ness: I have sworn to capture this man with all legal powers at my disposal and I will do so.
Malone: Well, the Lord hates a coward. Do you know what a blood oath is, Mr. Ness?
Ness: Yes.
Malone: Good, 'cause you just took one.

Default Bystander was beaten before fatal Calgary shooting

BUMP
Crimestoppers have done a re-enactment of the New Years Eve gang shooting. The innocent guy that was killed was actually eating alone and was a witness. He tried to run away, but the gang members chased after him, beat him, and killed him

Very tragic indeed

Quote:
Calgary homicide investigators have revealed that one of the victims in a gang triple slaying on New Year's Day was chased from a Macleod Trail restaurant, gunned down and beaten.
Keni Su'a, an innocent bystander, was dining alone at Bolsa when masked gunmen burst in. A gangster and his associate were shot at their table as Su'a attempted to flee.
The new information was revealed Tuesday at the filming of a Crime Stoppers re-enactment of the shooting.

Bump. Calgary man arrested and charged with 3 counts of 1st degree murder for the New Year's Day shootings in Calgary.

A Calgary man has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder in connection with a New Year's Day shooting that left three people dead, including a bystander and two others linked to gangs.

Real Christian Honorio, 25, was charged Tuesday morning, after being arrested without incident Monday in the city's northwest. He will appear in court on Thursday, said Calgary police.

Another tragic twist to this story is that the accused was actually one of five people arrested and charged on Christmas Eve - just a week before the murders - for numerous weapons found in a home.

Why in the world was he out and about just a week later?

Amongst million-dollar homes in an upscale community just south of the city, police have discovered a cache of guns and bombs, and arrested five people on numerous charges related to gang and drug activity.

Facing the charges are Anthony Beare, 29, of De Winton; Stephanie Deang, 27, of De Winton; Sopha Moeun, 26, of Calgary; Real Christian Honorio 25, of Calgary; and Stephen Carter, 27, of Calgary.

Seize all of their personal assets, and then shoot them with their own guns.

Huge bump but....Zuccherato and Roberto both found guilty of all three counts each of first degree murder.

Jury just made their decision a few minutes ago.

if it meant no repercussions to the public, i'd say let them go at it and pick themselves off. it's a better world without them.
