I've been on an MGD kick for the past while but I'm hardly a beer expert. Anything by Sleeman's goes down nicely as well.

But overall its a nice and flavourful beer.
Finally, someone mentioned Carlsberg...this is a jewel in the rough...one of my favorites hands down...a new beer I really like is an Italian beer called Peroni...great taste and a clean finish

Newcastle brown isn't bad either...

If I have to drink something more common, Blue, Pil and Moosehead are not bad choices

If so then here's my breakdown:

La fin du Monde: Spicy yet fruity taste, pretty highly carbonated. The lightest of the three main beers.

Maudite: the middle on in terms of darkness. Little milder flavour than La fin du monde but a slightly heavier taste to it. Probably because it is darker, not quite as crisp as La fin du Monde

Trois Pistole: Darkest of the 3 IIRC. Can't remember much about this one.

Blanche du Chambly: the only one that has a normal alcohol % i think. Similar to La fin du monde.

Ephermere: they come in the big bottles (singles) with a cork in them. They have apple and raspberry flavours. Pretty light beer with only a slight fruit flavour, unlike say fruili or Aprikat which both really taste a lot like the fruits in them.

There are a few more that are pretty readily available in Calgary depending on the store.

For individual ratings on the beers go to www.beercritic.ca and sort by country (Canada) then click on Unibroue and it'll bring up all their beers.

And it appears I may have been wrong it says Sapporo in brackets next to Unibroue so they might own it not Sleeman
Went to Willow Park and picked up the ones bolded, very interesting beers, like nothing I've ever had, received some weird looks from my buddies throwing back Busch. Looked for "Terrible" but I was told it was discontinued, oh and add another vote for Wild Rose's velvet fog.

Its tough to find. If you had it in Belgium though don expect it to be the same, or even similar. I've got some Westmalle Trippel in my fridge and its nothing like I remember. They had to change the process significantly to import it into Canada.
I picked up the Trippel. Sad to hear it might not be the same as I had over there...I really wanted to be able to show my friends how amazing some of the belgian beers really are.

Innis and Gunn I tried for the first time last night...very neat beer. Not something I could drink a ton of in one sitting but it was great to just enjoy.

Lots of love for Innis & Gunn. I wish I could say I drank a tonne of it when I lived in Edinburgh (where its brewed) but sadly its almost as tough to find there and just about as expensive. I only found it on tap at one bar.. and it was the Innis & Gunn Blonde.. which was not nearly as good as the regular one.

Guinness is my hands down favourite but its not really a beer you drink all the time.. and only on tap.

Czech Budweiser (Budvar) is probably my favourite euro lager but I never see it in Calgary. Peroni is good as well... I used to love Stella but I'm pretty sick of it now.

Grasshopper and Keiths are my favourite canadian beers.

MGD, Canadian or Coors Light if money is really tight.

Has anyone ever tried Desperado?? Its a french beer infused with Tequila... I tried it a couple months ago. Pretty high alc. content and it was a little sweet for my taste but it was interesting. I would order it again but I don't think I could drink more than one or two at the most in a single sitting.

Oh god, I drank many Desperados when I was living in France! You could buy big bottles of it at the grocery store for like, 2 euros. It was definitely quite sweet, but strangely tasty. And it made me very, very drunk....

Proof that beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I love the stuff, too. When I was in Italy, I'd drink Peroni and Nastro Azzuro (better than Peroni and Birra Moretti) by the gallon. The Italians thought I was crazy. They all think that Peroni is swill. Sorta like how us Canadians all think Molson Canadian is swill.

But yeah, if you like Peroni, try Nastro Azzuro. I love it. It's got that euro taste but not that aftertaste that you get from Heiniken.

Personally, I drink Bud. It is cheap and the taste is consistant. Other brands I consume regularly include: Keiths IPA, Moosehead and Stella. I don't care what you Belgian beer snobs say, Stella tastes great.

Dumass. Read the context of my post.

As far as Bud goes, it may not taste much better or be of higher quality, but at least it tastes the same every can you drink. Canadian does not. Nor does Kokanee. Sometimes they taste good, other times they taste like it was brewed in friggin Pakistan and shipped across the Pacific for 8 months.

In terms of hangovers the worst beer for me, and always has been, is Rickard's. Enjoy the product but has always given me an HUGE headache the next day. No idea why. I can have on Rickard's but after that I'll be paying a big price.

Weird how for some people certain beers just kill ya.

I totally agree on Rickards. I drink 3 or 4 and feel like crap the next day.

You find consistancy with Canadian? You must have damaged your tongue that time you were with Ken's mom.

I find forcing 1-2 L of pure water (not vodka waters!) down my throat at the end of the night makes sure I don't get any hangovers no matter what I drink.

But if I don't do that, Kokanee gold usually hurts me.

My favourite beer at the moment has to be Knappstein Lager from South Australia.

I am pretty spoiled, about 30 seconds from my front door is the pub with the largest selection (100+) of Australian beers in the country (and, presumably, the world): http://www.australianheritagehotel.c...s/menu_web.pdf

And about two minutes from my front door I have both a Bavarian beer cafe and a Belgian beer cafe. So lucky for me I can have just about any Australian, Bavarian, or Belgian beer I want any time I get thirsty. Of course they aren't always cheap...
