Some nice starter sets - $199

I would suggest the clubs looking at for singular purchase as you can normally play any course with the below clubs:

Putter, Driver, Wedge, 5 Iron, Fairway Wood.

not to put down your opinion but most golf shops you can get full sets around the same price as those and better quality in my opinion.

Most golf shops have places you can practice, and if you ask, should provide you a pro to analyze your swing and help make your decision on clubs.

To me this is the way to go. Dont waste money on garbage sets. It is true you get what you dont pay for.

Get good at it, and you can turn those three putts to two. That was my difference between shooting 100 and shooting 90.
Amen to that. I hit 16 of 18 greens today, and couldnt break 80 cus I had 40 putts! Yes 6 3 putts, haha it was horendous.

As far as the OP's question goes, come into golf town, I work there and most of our staff is extremely knowledgable and will be able to find the correct set for your price and skill level.

well, i've had my clubs for about a week now, and i love them! we went to golf town, and i tried out some iron sets...unfortunately they didn't have any launchers, so i didn't even get to try them. however, they had an awesome set of tommy armour hot scot's with 2 hybrids and then 5-pw for 250 bucks...absolutely loved them. they're so forgiving it's ridiculous...

went and tried driver after driver, and i settled on one that is alright...i can't hit any driver worth a piece of defecation, so i just hit and hit until i found one that helped with my slice (and was pretty cheap, 150 big ones)...ended up being a tommy armour hot scot driver as well

then, putter time! tried a few (oh, anyone have a heavy putter? they weigh A LOT) i was just browsing through the cheaper ones (didn't think a 200+ dollar one was necessary) i really liked the mallet style, and grabbed two or three off the rack...as soon as i hit the one, i knew...it had a perfect feel. and it looked awesome too...look at the brand, well be damned if it wasn't a tommy armour as well...(eft, its orange and awesome and cost me 100 large)

so thanks all for the help! heres to many more golf games, with as little wanting to pound yourself over the back of the head with the nearest 9 iron!
