Me too.
and yeah...what you said.
I look forward to discussing the entire series over the next few days, but for now I'm still digesting it all.
Kind of sad it's over.

Unbelievable. The Shane finish was crazy, I almost broke my monitor in anger. I hate him more than ever, if I even meet Walton Goggins I will punch him in the mouth for this finale alone.
I love the ending for MacKey, that is just brilliant! As usual (past seasons) Gardocki is the odd man out.
Love it, gonna miss it like no other show ever! I'll miss it way more than Sopranos.
Let me know when most people are caught up so we can openly discuss.

What a rollercoaster. I always thought Dutch would end up killing someone wanting to become that which he was so obsessed about.

I dont get the deal with Vic at the end. Leaves too much for another season.

I don't even know if I can call that a great episode. I mean, it WAS a great episode, but it was so full of emotions that I almost feel bad for loving it so much. I need to watch it again.

I thought the ending was great. The two things that Vic loved more than anything else was his family and his power on the streets. And when he thought he was saving both by signing that deal with ICE, he finally ended up being fooled and lost both. Sure, we don't know what's gonna happen next, but I'm okay with stuff being left for the viewer's opinion. Seeing Vic in the suit and tie just wasn;t right.
Loved the episode, the Shane stuff was just jaw dropping. Didn't think he would resort to that.....cause that was just brutal.
I thought the strongest scene of the episode maybe the entire series was Claudette reading the suicide note to Vic. Amazing stuff. So emotional.
This show was amazing....I got hooked when season 1 came out on dvd.....in my top 3 shows for sure, probably one of the better series finales that I have seen.

Yeah, very suspenseful too. I really didn't know if Vic was going to eat his gun or what. I was thinking it might happen when Claudette was watching him on the video monitor. Powerful, powerful episode. Such a shame it is over.

I don't think it's a shame that it's over. Of course, Im gonna miss it, but you have to think about the show's integrity. How long could Vic and Crew keep on getting away with their ways. It had to end sometime.

Oh for sure, I think I am speaking more selfishly than anything. There is no parallel to the Shield on TV right now, at least as far as I am concerned, and I wish there was.

Not even close.......I'm more than halfway thru watching the Wire(awesome show) and while they're both essentially cop shows, they're also both very different, so I don't like all the comparisons between the two.

They couldn't let Shane live after what he did to Lem. The writers had to take him out somehow, and they did an outstanding job of painting him into a corner where you could feel that he was trapped.
Mara was the cause of so much trouble for the Strike Team, I find it satisfying (in a TV sort of way) that she met that demise. I hated that woman from the first time she was on the show and knew she was going to be the end of things for at least Shane if not everyone.
I still don't understand how Corrine came to the conclusion that Vic was going to hurt her. I never for a minute thought he was capable of that, despite all that he WAS capable of. I mean, the guy couldn't even let Shane go down in the Armenian massacre as he and Ronnie planned. Fatal error. Vic was never going to hurt them. Corrine has always been a bit of an idiot though.
Ronnie gets the shaft. Smartest and most loyal member of the team and he goes down. So not fair!
My wife and I were discussing how early in the show Wyms and Waggenbach were always willing to look the other way when Vic and the team helped them with one of their cases. Hypocricy at its finest!
So, what are the ideas on where Vic was going?

The turning point of the entire show was in season 2 when they robbed the Money Train. Everything since was linked to that event.......fantastic writing.
Strike Team robs money train, strike team crumbles from within because of the robbery, Shane gets himself into trouble with Antwon because he wasn't rolling the the strike team. Vic and crew clean up Shane's mess. Lem gets busted for taking the drugs while trying to get shane clear.....Shane kills Lem because he thinks he's gonna rat. Vic goes on a rampage trying to find Lem's killer, torturing Guardo, finding out that shane did it and giving him one last chance to get away.......Shane gets involved with the wrong crew once again and gets the Strike team in deep.....and then obviously what happened in this season........all stems from the one incident......awesome....I love this show.

Another thing I found interesting, was after the Vic/Claudette showdown, Vic yelled out to Ronnie just before he got arrested. Was he trying to tell him to run? That would be voided his immunity agreement with ICE, which I guess was Vic's last attempt at being an honest guy.

What a brilliant finale! Haven't felt as gutpunched by a tv show moreso than the demise of Shane's family, awful but it totally rang true. Fantastic series.

Yeah, I think so. Loyal to a fault. I think what happened to Ronnie hurts him almost as bad as not knowning where his family is.

Finally finished this last night. What an excellent, well-crafted series and finale.
**SPOILERS BELOW**
Seems to me Vic got the most realistic punishment he was going to get. And arguably the worst kind too. The knowledge of losing his family, selling out Ronnie, and losing Shane and Lem - all for nothing - is much more tortuous than anything that was going to happen to him on the inside.
I had a feeling Shane's ending would be what it was. He and Mara had become beggars and thieves - the very people he seemed to despised so much. And he never seemed to fully recover psychologically from Lem's death.
The guy I felt really bad for was Ronnie. Whoa... that really shook me. He wanted to do right by Vic and got burned for it. That was really sad to me, even though Ronnie was just as corrupt as the rest of them.
Corinne and family leaving Vic was icing on the karma cake. Truly sad for Vic, though I suppose at the end of the day, the show was intent on exposing Vic as completely self-serving and power-hungry, regardless of whatever b.s. he was spouting at the time.
I found my own response to the show really interesting. In the first couple seasons, I found myself really sucked in by the macho bravado of the Strike Team. Being a tough, corrupt cop seems kind of bad-ass... (save the whole, awful Crowley incident), you can roll around, beat up on bad guys, pocket a little coin, and still roll with the biggest gang around (the police). But as the seasons wore on you start seeing what a total sham the whole thing. And by the end, the last thing you want is to be associated with the Strike Team and their immoral ways in any capacity. In fact, I thought the unspendable millions stolen from the Armenians was the perfect metaphor for the Strike Team's power. The marked money seems like a perfect score and then becomes the bane and destruction of their existence.
Really well done by Shawn Ryan et al. Bravo!
