Or you rob the top 6, especially on a team without a bonafide top 6. The minutes go to the guys who are going.

Not sure they'd agree.
Heck some on this site were quite upset when Zary had only 10 minutes against Vegas at the Dome the other day.

I like Gridin going down for now. Lets see if he can up his production and bring that back up to the big league like Coronato did.

Gridin with three goals and seven points in four games since being sent down.

Good. He's making a difference there, instead of being one more tire in the fire.

Pretty remarkable for a 19 year old AHL rookie. Coronato was a PPG player in his rookie AHL season, in his D+3 year. Gridin is matching that in his D+2 year, while being arguably less seasoned having come from the QMJHL vs. Matt coming from NCAA. Hope he keeps it up. Gridin is gunna look real nice next to whatever forward we draft in the top 5 next year.

He’s going to score 50 for the Flames. Might even be the nest guy to do so.
I love our amateur scouts. They are sooooo good!

I hope they leave him with the Wranglers until the back half of the season at the very least so he can get the opportunity to play a lot in the AHL.

Exactly. Let him cook in the AHL. It's his first professional season.

Gridin is making a bunch of great plays. I didn't think his passing and vision were that good when we drafted him. I thought he was more of a sniper. That's a great pick at #28, thanks VAN.
Brzstewicz is also having a great start with 3G, 6P in 6GP. I would love to see both in the NHL some time this season.

Am I right that the 10 game EFC slide rule applies to Gridin's contact?

He could be a top line player.
Hopefully we can get another one in the draft.
We need skill, badly.

I think you've got to reward him 6 more games anywhere in the season, and then have him ready for Wrangler playoffs for sure.

I have no gripe with Kirkland per se but Sam Morton could and should be playing 4C on a team like the Flames. He's performed well at the AHL level and there isn't a whole lot of reasons I can think of that he shouldn't at least be getting a turn in the NHL given he could still grow past whatever Kirkland is giving the team with some opportunity and practice.
Is it a huge issue? No. But when you throw Kirkland into the mix on top of the other capable veterans (Andersson, Coleman, Kadri) that could be moved and are preventing the team from bottoming out, it's a recipe to finish well out of lottery contention but nowhere near the playoffs.
