You know, you’re right. I was at the game and spent some time just watching his shifts and positioning. I was trying to learn how to play the position properly. It’s such a joy to watch people who are the best at what they do.

I thought I would see some Oilers fans accuse Weegar of being dirty for what happened to Carlsson.

He's from Buffalo, played for the Heat a few years ago.

With the evening Markstrom climbs to 16th in GAA and 21st in SV% among goalies with 15 or more games played.
A much better season for him is finally being reflected on the stats sheet and it's well deserved.

He was perfect … but wasn’t asked to do much
The Ducks had a low skill roster that provided little challenge

Flames looked solid for much of what I saw.
Incidentally I spent the last few days in Chiang Mai, Thailand where I came across a Canadian bar with Flames jerseys on the wall. Was not expecting that. Apparently the owner is from Calgary.

The Flames need to win their next 16 games in Anaheim to get to a .500 record at the Honda Center.

I gotta say, the massive losing streak in Anaheim was a problem for me. Whatever the team is doing now in the standings doesn’t really matter. The fact that the Flames are now dominating in that building is all out of proportion awesome and satisfying for me. I HATED that curse.

Markstrom is on a heater.
Solid road game by the flames. It would be awesome to win one more before the break.

Wait, what? He made a bunch of great saves that could have turned the tide of the game.
Easy to say when the game is over that he was just ok, but he was the team's best player. Again. He played great.

Lame take. Nitpicking any shutout is grounds for a "boo this man!"
The Ducks had their looks in this game, and he was up to the challenge. Saw it as a continuation of his great play against Flordia, which was a very difficult contest.

Shot placement. It’s pretty simple
Like I said, he was perfect

Shot placement? Sorry, but that's really underselling his game. There were tough shots, and he made some huge saves. It's ok to say he made some huge saves and was the team's best player.

Rewatch the game. Look at pucks shot in to the pads. They simply hit him a lot
He was perfect. But wasn’t asked to do much. Not in terms of when to make a save, but where the pucks were shot
That game is dreamy for a goalie

When most of the shots a goalie faces are straight into his pads, it's usually a sign that he's not giving shooters any open net. Being positionally perfect is as hard as making lots of acrobatic saves, and a lot easier to keep up game after game.
If the game was ‘dreamy’ for Markstrom, he deserves a full share of credit for making it so.
