Markstrom was really solid, but I don't agree with Hrudey. He said that Markstrom didn't need to make any 10-bell saves (because he didn't need to), but I think it was more a case of Markstrom remaining in control, and not over-committing. He didn't create problems for himself. He was quiet, and he was solid.
Even though he has some wild saves earlier in the season, IMO this was his best game of the year so far.
Well put. And that's Markstrom at his best. When things are uneventful around his net because he has it under control. Very few second chances on rebounds, and pucks directed away quickly or vacuumed up.
That was an interesting game. The second period was definitely a bend-don't-break experience, but they played it to a tie and then came out strong in the third.
Markstrom was so solid tonight. Good to see.
Lots of credit to the Zary-Kadri-Pospisil line again tonight. Even when the Flames were being outplayed, they would still go out and put together a shift where they got a bit of offensive zone time and evened things out a little bit so that it wasn't complete domination.
Mangiapane also did a lot of good things tonight.

Should have started Pickard against the Hawks but guess they might have wanted to see him against a legitimate NHL team to gage if there's a miracle worker there. There's not unfortunately. This team is a 1A goaltender away from competing against apex teams in playoff series (among other adds, RD upgrade too ...).
The middle lines are ice cold. Worst stretch of play for Draisaitl with no shots and lines 2 and 3 only had 8 shots total. Really tough to break up the McDavid line which has been carrying this team but Swiss Army Hopkins likely needs to switch with Kane to bring some puck distribution ability to line 2. Maybe sprinkle a few McWinger shifts early in game to get Draisaitl skating and with shooting opportunities. Of course Brown has to get flushed out of top six and focus on PK support where his head is above water.
This team is in danger of sagging back to oblivion with this road trip before Christmas.
