I don't disagree at all. I do think had this season gone differently, that there's a good chance Treliving is back, to finish the job and get as many guys re-signed as he could.
As it stands, the guys he brought in last year underperformed, and it no doubt contributed to his decision to leave the organization.

Hoping for Tulsky or Dubas-type.
Will probably get Lombardi or Murray
I'm going to miss Brad's professionalism and classiness most of all

I would l like a more analytically minded GM for sure.
I would take Dubas if Toronto Flames out but there's also rumors he goes to Pitt.
BT to Toronto
Dubas to Pitt
??? To Calgary?

I really don't know how much the GM of an AHL team does since most of his best players are just the guys who don't have a place in the NHL, but over the weekend, I saw a tweet from Rob Kerr (IIRC) praising Brad Pascall's work building the Wranglers this season.
I wouldn't be surprised if the permanent GM role comes down to Pascall and Conroy (with the one who doesn't get it leaving town).

I just think it's crazy that our ownership is so out of touch that they think anyone in this FO deserves a promotion.
We're doomed.

Tre was a solid GM. We could do a lot worse. The guys worked his ass off it felt like from the outside. That's contagious and a good hire for another organization.
Now we wait to find out if we do a lot worse

Kadri was a UFA signing, it wasn't an extension. If he was the target, you weren't getting him for less years or money.
Notwithstanding that I agree with you, the signing was a mistake and Kadri is in full-on retirement mode. He's won his cup. He's put in his years, now it's time to just milk the Flames for money and float around until retirement.
That's why you don't sign high profile UFAs, especially ones that have already won and lost the hunger.

The players all had great relationships with Tre and had a lot of respect for him by all accounts. Does this move mean Sutter isn't going anywhere? Don't like Sutter's methods plus a GM they all respect and have given kudos to for the moves he makes means Backlund and Lindholm are going to leave, I think.

What promising GM it coming to Calgary to get undermined by the head coach? Really? It's likely Maloney keeps the gig until Sutter retires.

I'm holding out faith that Maloney as PoHO means it will be a younger GM that comes in (similar to Burke as PoHO hiring Treliving).
If you were bringing in a Lombardi / Murray type then I doubt you'd need the PoHO role.
Actually based on the rumor about Conroy and Maloney being "extended" it's quite possible that Maloney is PoHO and Conroy will be GM. Maybe just don't want to announce it the same day as Treliving leaving as a way to give some white space on the news for Conroy.

People are very attached to a GM who ultimately didn't accomplish all that much here. But he is a smart guy, I think he could have success in his next chapter.

Treliving seems like a tremendous guy who did his job with class but not very many people around hockey have gotten more of a free pass relative to the lack of success in the last decade. Is ownership to blame? perhaps. But this should have been done years ago.

What decent GM is going to want to come when he can't choose his coaching staff.

Maloney as POHO doesn’t bother me as much as as Maloney as GM, so that’s OK. I suspect Conroy is invited to apply for the job.
Treliving is Pittsburgh bound most likely, unless he waits to see what happens in Toronto.

Leafs being interested in Treliving is wishful thinking. He doesn't have the track record.
