As for Huberdeau, I just don't see him passing to no one very often at all. Even his poorly thought out ones are just into traffic.
Agreed.

I think it has been the driving point of their offense - when it's clicking, they transition well and generate speed in the neutral zone, and rush chances (which they usually waste by skating into the corner - but that's a different conversation). And when they are off, they generate no speed and you know you're in for a night of slow, plodding, dump-it-in hockey.

It actually is funny to watch in game. You could see the difference between the first and second periods.

I'm certainly not anti - Huberdeau.

I see a guy that cares, perhaps too much, and is in his own head.

Oh there's no question he's in his own head. His confidence is shot, and he is thinking WAY too much. He needs a summer off, and to start again fresh in September.

I never thought you were.

I think he is in his own head. Plus a guy like him who tries a whole bunch of tricky plays - some years they all work (last year) someones none (this year) some times in the middle (the rest of his career).

Huberdeau also had a career number of games last year - 90. His previous high was 82 with no playoffs. Then he has pending UFA contract issues then gets traded then has more contract negotiations with Calgary.

Not sure if Mackenzie Weegar has been discussed as a potential next Captain of the Calgary Flames, but I really thought he improved significantly as the season went on. He’s on the older side but he’s signed long term, his honesty during the year end press conferences around the need for a new arena as well as how John Bean specifically made mention of him when he was talking. I genuinely get the impression he’s a great leader and he almost gives me Gio vibes but a little more outspoken.

Apparently Weeger is already back in south Florida on vacation now, according to some Panthers fans (social media post). Most of their fans would love him back on the team though.
