take with with a grain of salt, as i have not watched one second of pre-season hockey; however, i feel bad for milano as it sounds like his agent really misread the marketplace in terms of not securing him to a better deal.
however, with that being said, i assume the flames gave him a fair chance and they feel he is not good enough

Defence will be a bit of a mess. Especially when Kylington comes back. Don’t think any of the remaining players are waiver exempt. Might mean Stone will be in tough. Some risk of losing someone at final cut down.
Guess is Stone is released and one of Valimaki or Meloche are sent down.
|
Not sure, I would think Sutter will go with 7/13/2
Meaning 1 more forward to be cut, and 2 more dman.
They might sign Stone and keep 8 dman

My worry for this season isn't that they don't have enough goal scorers - I think they'll be fine in that regard. And it isn't that the media is rating them highly.
My concern is that it is year 3 for Sutter - is this the year they start tuning him out?
I don't think it will be - I expect that will happen next year, if he returns - but it is definitely a possibility

Can we just give Hubey the 'C' now so I can order my new jersey for the season already?

Great point about Sutter and being tuned out. I was really worried about that when we almost handed out those deals to Johnny and Matthew.
The roster has changed significantly so Sutter is going to be a new voice for the core group. Weegar, Kadri, Huberdeau these guys haven't had a Sutter pushing them before so I think that should be a non-issue.

There has been so much turnover that I doubt this is a problem.

The only pieces of the core I would be worrying about tuning him out are gone now. And good riddance. Everyone left seems like they want to win.

Lindy can score 30, mangiapane 30, huberdeau 25, kadri 20, toffoli 20, dube 15, backlund 15, coleman 10
there is enough there if they are a strong defensive team to win 45 games and notch 100 points , but won't be winning those 6-2 games every other night like last year . And that's fine if they are a better team in tight games

I was hoping to see Weegar on the top PP unit as well, I think his ability to skate and get into the play would be more beneficial than Andersson. I haven't liked Andersson on the top unit since last year.

Any word on when Kylington is returning? I know Tre banned any questions about him, but is there an indication that he will be back in Calgary in 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years?

It's not really year 3 of Sutter anyway...he came in late the bubble season
People are REALLY over reacting to a preseason game

There was a Swedish article posted today https://www.aftonbladet.se/sportblad...av-familjeskal
His agent basically said that is best if Oilver is left alone and in peace right now for a personal family reason and they hope he is back soon.
Sounds like it is something serious.

Yes, but my point is that I don't think that Stone would sign—nor do I think the Flames would offer—a two-way deal. When Stone does sign a NHL contract in Calgary it will be a one-way deal.

I would hope no one is reacting to a pre season game. But it's certainly OK to pose questions about this team. What exactly have they proven to date?

Does year-one count? It was only two months, and Sutter coached less than 30 games, I think.

It seems like complete silence. If it was soon, I would think it would be more likely that we would know. The fact the team really stocked up on defensemen in the summer makes me think they knew ahead of time and prepared for a long absence. A lot of people assumed they were going to have to trade someone, but now I am thinking it had more to do with whatever Kylington is dealing with. I know it’s just jumping to conclusions, but the signs seem to point toward him not being back soon.
I have to say, they have done a really good job of not leaking anything.

The Flames just changed out the two biggest pieces of their core and added another this off-season. I would like to hope that that extends Darryl's shelf life.
