Sounds like there is some fence mending to be done by Drury.

a source told The Athletic that Artemi Panarin and Igor Shesterkin are “livid” about the Buchnevich trade. It’s tough to imagine there aren’t at least a few other players who feel the same way.

My first impression is that Drury falls into the "idiot" category. Given that their owner does too, I would try to trade with the Rangers as much and as fast as possible at this time...

Ridiculous. Panarin bails on his team because he wants to be paid more. But it’s outrageous that management moves a player they don’t think they’ll be able to afford? If I was Drury I’d ask Panarin how much of his contract he’d give up to enable the Rangers to pay Buchnevich. About $2 mil a year would probably do it.

I just don't think Canada is very appealing to Russian players.

The ones that get drafted usually bolt (Bure) when they can and the veterans who sign here are only doing so to rejuvenate their careers (Radulov, Galchenyuk, Kovalev) and these guys all went to the international metropolis' of Montreal and Toronto.

There's a bigger risk to Canadian teams when dealing with Russian players so I'm going to give Tre a pass on this one.

Man - one of the biggest holes on the roster, not just next year but it seems perpetually....

Good acquisition cost, not a bad cap hit at all for top 6 RW, and in the prime years of his career.

There must be a reason the Flames weren't all over this. I don't buy at all that Treliving wouldn't have known the Rangers were shopping him. Perhaps there wasn't a willingness to sign with the Flames. Must be something like that because this would have answered a few of the roster questions right now.
