Don't think you're an elite team, play like a elite team. So week in own zone, but try to fancy? But I saw this game many times before.

Blow it up, at least it hurts less losing in an asterisk Cup run.

Same mediocre Flames, but Winnipeg is no Avalanche. Regardless of who wins this series, both teams are hot garbage and will get destroyed by a good opponent.

This is like watching 2 AHL teams

Well, if it was up to Flames fans, I think we'd start a full rebuild next season with no returning players. Maybe they're right.

What do you expect when you get completely outworked. Jets seem to skate circles around us. Won more battles, got to more loose pucks. If not for a bit of luck and a bad giveaway by Jets this game was more like 3-0

That was pathetic. No two ways around it. Jets top 2 players were out of the lineup. A truly talented, prepared team would jump on that. This one wilted today. Geoff Ward said this game would show what sort of killer instinct they had. The answer was, none.

Tkachuk seems great at getting opposition riled up in game 1 but vanishing when the next game gets physical. Identical to last year against the Avs. And Gio, love the guy but when the team needs a big win he seems to try a little too hard and we get games like today.

And I guarantee Chris Cuthbert is going to will that Kyle Connor goal into existence one of these games.

Not sure I agree with singling out Monahan when Gaudreau and Tkachuk both had the games they did.

Monahan made at least 3 really nice plays to set teammates up in the slot. Not sure Gaudreau or Tkachuk did anything positive with the puck all game.

Monahan opted out right? Guy is an absolute no show. If Johnny isn't setting him up he's literally just taking up a roster spot.

Indicative of the franchise. We are used to it. Very pedestrian effort today.
Until the top players are the top players in the playoffs, Flames aren't going to be going on another run.

From this series at least, if you still see players you expect to be your best performs lack in that department, you know who to ship during the off season.

Flames weren’t good and were still in the driver’s seat this game. Clean up the PP and Calgary wins this game.

That was the best effort the Jets could muster without Schiefele and Laine. Series is far from over here.

This wasn’t even close to how bad they looked against Colorado last year.
You're kidding. The Flames were in the driver's seat? I sure wouldn't want to be in their passenger's seat. They had absolutely no control over that game and their inevitable collapse was so predictable. They spent almost the entire third period hemmed in their own zone and generated almost no high danger chances at even strength.

The bad: Gio, Brodie, Dube, Tkachuk, Gustafsson, Rinaldo, Bennett

The good: Talbot, the PK on the 2 man down

The invisible: Everyone else

They have talent. But the lack of effort and execution today when it mattered most is not surprising. Best players (outside of Lindholm) have been mentally weak for some time.

Flames top 6 needs to get out of their own heads.

Attack the defense and try to hang on to the puck.

It’s no surprise the Bennett line is the only line that’s had some success. Bennett gets the puck and actually skates at the d-men with speed.

Top 6 think that playoff hockey means they have to dump every puck in and it just doesn’t work for their style of play. Sure dump it in if you don’t have anything but they need to actually hold onto the puck every once in a while.

5 HDCF for the team through two games, luckily they’ve done a good job of limiting the chances against too but speaks to just how mediocre the offender has been at 5v5 through 2 games.

The Jets water skied their way to victory and still needed a lot of help. Flames can't get frustrated, even if they're playing against 2 teams. Even though they deserved MUCH better treatment from the zebras(Ehlers would have spent the whole game in the box if things were remotely even), if they would have remained composed they probably still could have overcome that and come out with a win AND huge momentum.
