I think we've just got too many players that are either too small, too slow, or too soft. If a fast team is skating well, half our roster can't keep up. If a big team is playing physically, half our roster can't fight through it. Seriously, how many players on our roster are actually above average in size, speed, and competitiveness? Giordano and Bennett? Maybe Stone or Hamonic? Lindholm? Backlund? And even some of those names are a stretch.
We have a team that's skilled and smart, but simply can't out-battle a fast or physical team that's skating and competing well.
I think it explains the good year - bad year pattern we're stuck in. When teams take us lightly we're good enough to punish them, but when they've got us circled on the calendar we fade away. I think it also explains the lack of playoff success - when the whistles get put away size and speed becomes even more important.

Monahan, Gaudreau, Lindholm, Tkachuk, Giordano, Hanifin, Jankowski all had career years last year. It would be silly to think they’d all have repeat years but this is worse than expected. Bag skate? Players only meeting? I don’t know what the answer is but their give a meter is currently bottomed out.

lol okay bud...he blew it last season going 2nd overall I guess
blaming another coach, come on man
Have you watched the team since the ASB last year? Definition of a .500 club and they dont show any signs of being able to replicate the amazing 2 months before the ASB.
The Flames always go bargain bin hunting for coaches, and in an increasingly system oriented league its killing them.
Peters teams plays one way. Once the league adjusted we've been treated to this garbage.
Folks need to remain calm, we are only in year 6 of the Treliving rebuild. No need to panic yet. He inherited that team that went to the second round in his first year, but he had a lot of work to do. Unrealistic to expect the job to be done in the first 6-8 years.
I am starting to get concerned about the lack of involvement by most of the team. We have a couple of players every game who try to do stuff. The rest just make minimal effort. Is it motivational? It isn't talent. Until they figure it out, I think the team will continue to struggle A LOT. Maybe they need an exorcism.
Seems like this group has tuned out the coach. They are capable of playing a lot better but refuse to do so!
This is not on the coaches...this is entirely about players that just dont care enough to play the way they need to succeed.
I’m with you on not blaming Peters, but the PP strategy is awful and has been awful the entire time Ward has run it.
One thing I will be critical of Peters on though is his line management through 22 games. It’s a whirlwind of useless changes that get reverted almost as soon as they’re cooked up.
