Let’s see how tough Kane is and I am sure he will go after Tkachuk or Bennett. If it is Bennett that is a good 5 minute trade off for Calgary.

Pumped for this game tonight and hoping we get the win!

I think this might be the first real test of the season for these Flames. Easily the biggest and most important game they have yet to play so far.

The Tampa Bay game was a good test, the Washington game last week also felt like a gritty playoff game, but this one is all about how the Flames can handle the pressure of all eyes in the NHL looking at them. Trying to prove they aren't a fluke and that they belong to be here.

1st vs 2nd Pacific Heavy Weight Battle.

Grabbing a 6 pack and enjoying this one tonight. Go Flames Go!

But this is the Sharks biggest game of the year, and they know it. I can't see it escalating too much, but it makes for a fun storyline if anything.
That and the Flames powerplay has been off the charts in the last couple of months, they have to be talking about that too.

It was rough when the Flames didn't have the size nor the powerplay to make silly teams play.

It’s been over 50 games, the Flames have been trouncing other teams for months, and the last time they played the Sharks they beat the crap out of them. Anyone who has been paying attention knows that they are not a “fluke.”

Oh yeah, I'm not saying they are flukes. But in the eyes of the rest of the NHL and other fans, Calgary is just "having a strong season, in a weak Pacific division, and haven't gotten past the 2nd round in 15 years".

We still have a lot of hockey to play before considering this season a success.

Best thing about these games and dealing with the heightened emotion from my perspective is the huge experience boost it gives the team. You could literally see them wilt in the early days like that LA game with Iginla where they got too nerved up.

Lately it seems like they have matured a lot in dealing with these scenarios, the Minnesota rematch was just a really impressive approach and performance. I think they need to learn how to perform in these circumstances to ever win in the playoffs.

Hope they draw in Prout though just in case. For my money Prout has been very solid all year when he's played and it makes sense tonight.

Kane's entire fighting rep is based off beating up non-fighters - Cooke and Petrovic.

I'm sure he's fine but he's never fought guys like Nurse or Manson that Bennett has fought. Bennett also throttles non-fighters like Suter when he goes that route.

That said - Bennett fought already after the hit and fought a guy who's tough. Canucks/Bertuzzi era move to decide a guy has to endlessly fight to get retribution.

I like the suggestion of suckering Kane into penalties, he's demonstrated he's a hothead on multiple occasions. Eventually probably Bennett will fight him, but first goad him into a couple minors and hurt the Sharks on the scoreboard.

He really shouldn't have to fight a guy like Kane.

I know he's not really a fighter per se, but when is a guy like Neal going to step up and use his size for a little physicality? I thought he was tough to play against and had a chip on his shoulder. We really haven't seen that. Might be a good game for him to step up and make some noise.

Neal is constantly chirping and is definitely a dirty player in terms of stick work and cheap shots etc... that reputation is undeniable

He doesn’t fight very often though and throws very few hits. Any hit he throws is going to be late anyways since he is such a slow skater, it would just take him out of position for where he needs to be defensively IMO

If I were the Flames i'd steer clear of a fight with Kane, the guy has a pretty good record when it comes to fights. I'm no fight expert, but he's extremely good defensively and waits for his opportunities. Watch his fights on youtube and you'll see.

Probably better to distract him, get him chasing a fight.

People are reading too much into that Capitals game. It was the first game after an extended break against a non-conference team. The Flames treated it like just any of the 82 games on the schedule and the Capitals wanted that game more. If the Flames were facing the Capitals in a playoff game I would expect a different Flames team.

Sad that Bennett has to fight because he made a clean hit over a month ago.

SJ is sure cocky for a team that has never won anything

I wanna see someone goad Kane into something dumb. Tkachuk is the obvious candidate but also maybe Andersson or Neal - Andersson can chirp pretty well and Neal does the occasional minor dirt with his stick.

San Jose reaching Vancouver/Toronto levels of arrogance e with no results.

At least Montreal and that tire fire up north have legit reason to be idiots.

Andersson seems like a low-key ultra agitator.

I don't know if he chirps a lot, or effectively, but whatever it is he seems to draw extra attention after whistles
