Regarding rumours about GG being fired:
I heard Francis on NHL Radio say before the Oilers game that GG would be gone if they don't make the playoffs and 50/50 if they do. He also said GG was unravelling.

I'm not saying I put too much stock in it, but the rumour is out there beyond CP.

If the Flames miss the playoffs then Gulutzan is likely fired. People can say otherwise but I don’t see how he survives.

Management is going to get roasted at the STH events if they do not make that change.

If Gulutzan isn't fired, then might as well move this team to another city because you won't have fans here.

I'm not a STH but I would implore all of you who are to ask the questions that Calgary media hasn't or won't ask when you are given the chance. This team's management needs to be asked the tough questions and be held completely accountable publicly.

Good luck KK will just smugly and persistently moderate “If we thought coaching was the problem we would have saved everyone some time coming to this today”

I have a strange feeling that Treliving is not going to fire Gulutzan, because that would be admitting his own mistake in hiring him in the first place. Over his tenure here, Treliving has demonstrated a staunch personal belief in the "process" and he might just stick to it by keeping GG for another season. With three superstar coaches that might be available this summer, not going all in on one of them would be unforgivable.

Wait, how do you agree that he can't adapt (which is one of the biggest roles of an NHL head coach) and also say that you don't see that changing with a new coach?

It's unbelievable how trained our fan base is to accept mediocrity and the status quo.

Yeah....that's what many of you sound like right now. GG hasn't been fired and in fact, the only place I ever hear that he is would be right here on CP.
No, it really isn't, not even close. Based on absolutely no hard facts? Really?

On the morning show on the fan they'll apparently speak to it a bit, but overall Calgary media just isn't interested in asking the tough questions or challenging the Flames in any meaningful manner.

Barry Trotz of Washington does not have an extension past this season.

He might be available if Washington doesn’t have a good playoff.

I disagree. I think he admits mistakes.

He has also his job is to improve every position, to the extent it’s possible.

Mob rule?

If that's the case, the Flames organization is in big trouble.

The problem is goes beyond the PP though. Goaltending was an issue in past years, but with Smith and Rittich in a backup role, it was solid this year.

The coaching issues are with GG's stubbornness and inability to adapt to the situation in a timely manner; whether it is in-game (switching the goalie, timeouts, rallying the team between periods) or longer term (Brodie on the right, D pairings, Bennett at C). The purpose of youth is to grow and change. I don't see enough evidence of learning from past mistakes.

Unless there demonstration of a complete change in coaching philosophy over the reminder of the season and into the playoffs, the entire coaching staff has to go.

I can't put up with another season of wasted year of the core's contracts. I feel like we aren't getting the most out of our players because they're handcuffed to a system which hasn't been that effective in getting the wins, Bennett & Brodie and to a lesser extent Jankowski.

You're right, except Bennett at center was the right play. Bennett at center with exclusively AHL-caliber wingers was not.
