Ferland has 20 goals, Frolik is a known commodity in the league, Hamonic is an upper level D-man and Brodie, while he has declined, would still hold a decent amount of value around the league. And if Reinhart didn't get labeled as 'guy' than neither should Bennett... Buffalo is a bad team, we aren't in that tier.

Need a win to stop the bleeding and get the boys' confidence back.

They look like pressure is getting to them a bit.
Johnny missing the net vs Pitts comes to mind.

3 pts back sounds like a good take, but reality is we'll probably still have to go something along the lines of 10-5-0 just to give ourselves a solid chance at it. That's what's got everyone so downer.

That's the reality, but I've always looked at things in shorter time periods.

The Flames were somewhat unlikely to lose four in a row, but they did, and that leaves their rest of season outlook way more grim.

But who's to say they don't rifle off four in a row now making the rest of season a much more palpable 6-5-0 to get in? There are certainly some numbers to suggest the team is playing a lot better than a four game skid suggest, and if Smith is close to returning they may go on a rip.

Not a prediction, but I've always felt a couple of losses was somewhat likely after a team wins four or five, and the same is true about some inevitable wins when the losses pile up.

A Buf and Ottawa win will have things looking ok. Isles will be beatable but maybe a bit trickier. Then the huge trap game vs Oilers, unacceptable that this coach has yet to beat them.
Plus the team could be looking ahead to SJ and that Oilers game is going to be the biggest of the season for a few reasons.

As mentioned here, 6 out of the next 8 points is essential or else. Even if that means OT wins because none of these next 4 teams are in the WC race (I know row may come into play, but disregard for now) so who cares about 3 pointers.

Then comes to a SJ game which will be massive and a true 4 pointer. A Sunday post St Patty’s day in LV they can play free and loose.

All season long the Flames seem to alternate between clawing their way into a playoff spot, and then spectacularly choking it away before they can distance themselves from teams behind them.

We're probably due for the former, since we just experienced the latter.

If the Flames are going to make it, wouldn't you want them to go into playoffs doing just that? Then they might actually believe that they can win a round or two. I'll judge the team once Smith is back, if that doesn't give them the confidence to win, nothing will.

If we lose this game to a Buffalo team without Kane and Eichel we straight up do not belong in the playoffs.

Do or die is right.

Go flames go

Don't worry about whether Buffalo is good or bad.
Just win.

With three teams to climb over and all of them having games in hand. Might explain the mood.
