Imagine going into a deep sleep and never waking up. It's a bummer but when it's over, it's over. This is why I encourage everyone to live life the fullest with no regrets as there is no second chance or do overs.

If you believe in karma you're already being held accountable for your actions.

Do you think we'll ever achieve computerizing the human brain and basically "uploading" our consciousnesses into an artificial body? (A la Chappie the movie)

The concept of death and consciousness is fascinating.

I don't know, but at least I won't have to stress about money any more when the time comes. I stress more about money after university than I did in university, mo money mo problems!

Couldn't agree more. I don't know why anyone would want to short change themselves and say it's all over when you die. What if it isn't? Neither can be proven either way.
To me personally it's crazy to believe that all of what we see on earth is from a chaotic sequence of events. Science itself believes in cause and effect. To me religion has been tainted by human self interest. It's really unfortunate.
There's a billion planets in our galaxy and and a billion galaxies with no end in sight. Who are we to think that we are the most advanced in the universe and the only ones. If it is all based on chance, then with that kind of number, the chances are, there's more to life than we think.

I believe the road to perfection never ends. Look at where humanity was and where we are.

I'd like to believe that what happens after death is something we can't comprehend in our current system of rationality and logic. Personally, I believe our energy - or spirit, for that matter - is transferred somewhere else. Where that is, or how that is, I have no idea.
I'm no follower of religion (except that the Flying Spaghetti Monster religion is looking better every time I eat good Italian food), but I do believe in transfer of energy in a way people can't comprehend... no one living knows for sure, so I'll choose to believe this is what happens. It also makes the thought of death less morbid and awkward.

On a similar vein as Mccree, I had a dream about my Mom last winter. She was alive and walking (had MS) and we had a great conversation with a lot of encouraging words exchanged. At the end of it I got to give her what felt like a very real hug and in the hug she turned into a dog, like a german Shepard/wolf looking dog and licked my face. I know weird. The next day I decided to visit her grave and as I am walking up to the tombstone I spooked a coyote who stood up and walked about 5 feet towards me and just stood there staring at me. After about a minute it just trotted away, I walked up to the tombstone and there was no snow near it so the coyote had obviously been laying there for some time.
Weird coincidence? Why her tombstone out of all the thousands that are around it? Either way it stuck with me for a while. I do not believe in God, I don't believe in anything religious. I would like to believe there is something after we go but I just don't, I think once you are dead that is it and you just cease to function. Immortality exists only through your actions. I had never thought about the time slowing down thing as your brain starts to fade though.. that is intriguing.

I believe that all of us have already died and this is hell.
When you die in hell, it means that there's nothing, you go to the void aware of the nothingness, only being able to scream soundlessly, see blackness and smell and taste nothing, isolated and alone., and slowly going crazy, trapped in your illusions
You can't even touch yourself inappropriately to pass the time because you have no hands.
