To be honest I am having difficulty with the lack of Canadian content. Its not only the teams but these emerging new NHL powerhouses(with the exception of Dallas)have low percentages of Canadian players.

I can say personally, I was really disenchanted with the NHL product down the stretch (March/April). Too many of the national games felt like they were only played because they had to be with even top teams simply going through the motions to wrap up the season. There were even stretches where I didn't watch games for weeks because they seemed so flat.

The complete lack of physicality this year may be a big reason for a drop off as well. The game seems to have completely moved away from the much rougher style you used to see every year during playoffs. I could care less if there's Canadian teams or players so long as the hockey is entertaining.

Personally I love how things are shaping up cause if the Sharks and Blues can finish off the Kings and Blackhawks, we'll have some fresh air in the playoffs finally.

This playoffs has by far the most interesting list of teams in recent years if you ask me.

Islanders, Capitals, Panthers, Sharks, Stars, Rangers, Blues all have decent chances. If any of those teams win I'll be pretty pumped since none of them have won, or won in recent years.

Couldn't care less about Canadian teams. In fact, I never want a Canadian team that isn't based in Calgary to win the cup ever again. Ever. I don't even want to see them in the playoffs. I mean, the Jets aren't that bad cause I haven't had time to grow my hate for them yet but the rest? Go pound sand.

The draft audience "...for its live broadcast on Hockey Night in Canada hit 1.43 million viewers according to the overnight ratings from Numeris. The overnight numbers are considered reliable by the broadcast industry, but they are not considered official. The official numbers for the draft lottery have not been released by Numeris."

Ratings so low this year just mean that if 1 or 2 Canadian teams make the playoffs next season, SN can trumpet how their ratings are up 40% year over year. Never mind that they'd still be down overall.

SN = NG.
