In my humble but infallible opinion, the only thing wrong with the third is the baseball script on the front. Replace that with the regular Flames logo, and you've got a uniform more than good enough to replace the stupid Bavarian Luge Team gear.
Kudos to Kaine for having the good taste not only to put Monahan's name on the jersey, but to photograph the back of it so we don't have to look at that stupid script.
Guess it's an acquired taste, hated the thirds at first, actually grown to like them. Mainly because it's something different from the usual I suppose.

I didn't get a chance to watch much of the Flames this season until a couple of weeks ago.
The main thing I noticed upon watching the games again? Mony looks bigger. He's filled out more & is a force to be reckoned with. He's not destroying people out there, but he goes to the net & is difficult to move.
He is a legitimate number 1 centre who can play on either special teams unit & in any situation. A clutch scorer with great hands & excellent on face offs.
Honestly, this guy is the best centre the Flames have had since Nieuwendyk.

Moneyhands has that rare and invaluable ability to reliably beat good goalies. He does it cleanly and confidently without flash. It's just pure, unhyped goal scoring skill.
I would gladly wear a Flames third jersey with Monahan's name and number on the back.

Looks like it's from the unveiling of the new 3rd on October 27th, 2013. Monhanan was on the team, but I also can't see him in the picture. I can see Galiardi, SOB, Jackman, Grats, and Butler though. The big guy must be Chris Breen?
I read on HF a lot of Flames fans refer to Monahan as having a bad year or he is slumping. He is on pace for 25 goals and 55pts which is down from last year but certainly not falling off a cliff.
One hot month and he could get right back on the pace he scored last year. In his first season he was heavily sheltered and scored 22 with 34pts. In his next year it was a coming out party 31 goals 62pts. This season teams are specifically targeting him as a player they need to shut down he went from promising young player to number 1 centre in 2 years. He will adapt and improve over time.
The Flames have 3 incredible young forwards to build around.
