Frolik may not HIT...but he is a fearless shot blocker on the PK...it's a different kind of "toughness"...and it was Frolik on the ice with Kruger and Bolland, when he got the primary assist on Bolland's Stanley Cup GWG in 2013, so I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the guy.

I would hate for the Jets to lose Frolik. At this point, I'm fairly certain he walks. Rumor has it his significant other did not like the Manitoba capital city.

I would be over the moon if we signed Frolik, loved this guys play ever since I saw him in the WJC. He has the potential to put up quite a few points even though he has been cast as a third line player, he could fit nicely on the 2nd line.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Raymond - Jooris - Colborne
Ferland - Stajan - Jones
Move Bennett to center, add Bouma, and get rid of Raymond and that's a solid lineup. The 1st line is all offence, but the 2nd, 3rd and 4th lines would be very tough to play against.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler
Bouma - Bennett - Frolik
Ferland - Backlund - Colborne
Jooris - Stajan - Jones

Not Frolik related but I'd like to see Ferland paired with Bennett and hopefully they click.

That way 2/3 of each of our top 3 lines will be set for few years.

Gaudreau-Monahan-
Ferland-Bennett-
Bouma-Backlund-

Probably means Calgary would not be enough of an upgrade. The wife might want a warmer locale.

Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva
Michael Frolik is in Florida and met with around 10 teams in the last few days. Tones of interest for this UFA foward. #tvasports

CGY likely to kick tires on UFA F Michal Frolik.

Sounds like Frolik is saying his chances of coming to Calgary are between slim and none - and slim left town yesterday!

Now that the draft is over. What are people's thoughts on Frolik?

I see him as an upgrade on 75% of the RW the flames played last year. But do we need to move someone out to fit him in?

Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva
Playing for the Canadiens would be on top of Michael Frolik list, I've learned. He aways loved MTL and spends his summers training here.

He would've commanded term at high dollars from another team anyway, things the Flames can't offer now that we have Hamilton to sign.

One of those guys (like Beleskey) who's going to make out with a king's ransom. Stay away, I suspect Frolik is going to be in that 5-6 range.

We're better off targeting Chris Stewart or Justin Williams, but after that, no dice.

Same as before... would like him a lot on a reasonable deal. Draft took care of the issues on defense but we still lack at solid possession driving forwards that cab play RW, so he'd be a definite target.

I agree with Stewart, we need a big winger, not even sure if he's that much bigger than Frolik but he def seems to play more of a PF role. Also he'll he cheaper due to his inconsistencies and you know if anyone can get him going it's Hartley. Didn't look too bad in his short stint with Minne.

Can we really add a forward without removing one? Doesn't make much sense to be spending term and $$$ on a UFA. Personally I'm kind of surprised the Flames were unable to move some forward depth for a mid-round pick at the draft.

Right now the depth chart kind of looks like:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler
Bouma - Backlund - Colborne
Ferland - Bennett - Jones
Jooris - Stajan - Shore
Bollig - Byron - Raymond

That is already 15 forwards on NHL contracts (if we qualify our NHL RFAs). IMO size is less of an issue up front if Bouma, Jones, Ferland, Bollig, and Colborne can replicate their play and physicality from the playoffs

Plus you have guys like Arnold, Poirier, Granlund, Reinhart, Wolf, Klimchuk, Carroll, and Agostino who are going to be pushing for a taste of NHL action this year.

Unless the forward we are getting is a true top 6 forward (don't think Frolik or Stewart fit that bill) then I don't see the fit.
