I'd love to see a picture of this Ryan Lambert, talk about sounding like a complete tool this guy's a god damn joke lol. It's like he's trolling but is actually 100% serious..

Pretty close offensive numbers and pretty comparable players imo. Wolf finished 4th in scoring. They both are going to be rock solid for this team going forward. We will be able to run 2-3 lines with a hard hitting winger on each when Hunter Smith makes the jump. Opposing defensemen are going to have a rough time.

There's a pretty good chance Smith never makes the NHL. His offensive numbers in the CHL are far from impressive. Someone his age and size should be dominating that league if they're going to be an NHLer.

He is a hitting machine though. Will be a good bottom 6er at least. I don't expect him to ever be in a top 6 role

Which is what worries me about the new regimes scouting.
First non-obvious pick they make and they go straight to "Size over everything". Scary. I miss Feaster.

His numbers are similar to Bouma's in his final (and fourth year in the WHL). Numbers don't always tell the whole story and I think Smith's game in the NHL would be more as a 3/4th line energy guy than a top two line winger. But I have only seen him in limited action. Smith might not make it but that could be said for an prospect.

Let’s say they win. Jump ahead to that unlikelihood and explain why it happened.
Lambert: PDO.
Can someone please explain to this guy that PDO isn't a cause of anything? It is a number attempting to reflect the net result of a combination of different on ice factors. If you want to explain something, try picking out one of those factors.
F*** that's annoying.

Even a good bottom 6 player should put up decent numbers in the CHL. Ferland had 47 goals when he was Smith's age.

Junior points almost don't matter what kind of NHLer you may be. Look how many points Rob Schremp put up in Junior.

No. Not a cause of anything except luck. So that's his only answer... unless they get lucky, they lose.
Screw Lambert

Glad to see Shore slot back in. I don't have a huge issue with Raymond's play lately, but Shore plays with a little more sandpaper which is probably needed tonight. I like the look of that 4th line.
And I wouldn't waste anymore time reading Lambert's stuff. Obviously he's bitter, no sense hoping he writes anything with any objectivity.

I disagree - like the Bouma example. In fact - in some ways it could be good to take a player who is playing a certain style that you think would be conducive to 3rd/4th line minutes in the NHL than to take a guy putting up good offensive numbers and try him as a bottom 6 than to focus on numbers. I'm not saying he will necessarily make it - just that he doesn't have to light it up in order to do so. Besides 49 points in 57 games isn't terrible and would put him 5th among forwards on his team and 4th if he'd played a full season...anyways I digress...OT.
EDIT: Add Antoine Roussell as another example...

It's the same scouting staff though I suppose the philosophy guiding them might have changed . Regardless, you need all sorts of players to succeed in the NHL. I have no problems with drafting a 6'7 beast with bottom 6 potential late in the 2nd round when the cupboards are already bursting open with potential top 9 forwards. Maybe one day we can have a 3rd line of Ferland-Bouma-Smith knocking people's heads off while Monahan, Bennett, Gaudreau, Hudler, Poirier and others light up the scoreboard.

Well, it's been a terrific run this year. Except for a one week cruise over Christmas last year, Mrs. Ho and I have watched every game.
I want this to last as long as possible. No matter what crap the day threw at me, a Flames game helped make life better. Not that they didn't cause my blood pressure to rise on occasion ~cough Ottawa 4-0 after 2 periods ~cough.
Go Flames! Look for us tonite in section 437 (we'll be ones wearing red!)

Not always.
Milan Lucic was 0.97 points/game after his second full year of junior.

Hunter Smith was 0.86 points/game after his second full year of junior.

They're actually pretty comparable guys thus far in their careers. Not saying anything will translate the same, however.
