I like the show and listen every day.
I think the 3 of them work well together; maybe because I listen often I get the schtick and the personalities.
on occasion I have been forced to listen to Edmonton tsn and if you want crap radio, that's the very definition.
boomer would be a loss but good luck to him if true!

Next time they have "ask Rhett" or the "Text Line", listen to the way he references the target audience, complete alienation. IMHO.
I hope he gets a raise and keeps his job (but moves to TO), I am just done listening to him.
The way he and Rhett team up on Pinder, I know it is a rouse, but one I am extremely tired of. The Bully rhetoric is no longer acceptable.

No, lighthearted fun is when something or someone occasionally gets made fun of or thrown under the bus. This is every damn day. It is tiring, especially in the sports industry where fair play and bullying can have long lasting psychological effects on people (the lessons we are now teaching to the youth). What message is being sent, "do as I say not as I do"? or "its ok we are professionals"? how about using the spotlight to not be a jerk to one specific co-worker every day. Or use the attention you do get to bring forth a positive state of mind and attitude. I hate the negativity.
A south american family member (married in) told me once that "Canadians are so nice/kind/generous, but boy are you guys mean spirited in your humor to each other".
Maybe this has stuck with me and I am more sensitive to it, but again this is IMO.

If Francis took over in the morning it would possibly be the worst thing that ever happened to sports fans in this city. I really enjoy Boomer and Pinder in the morning and would hate to see him go. I'm actually shocked how many people seem to not like him on here.

I suppose it is just too antiquated for an old man like me (30's).
We as a society can't condemn bullying but then defend it by saying that "it is just a show/bit".
Unless of course bullying/ picking on people is not that big of a deal to all of us. Then I guess I am the one with the issues, not the largest sports broadcasting company in Canada.

I love him! I remember an interview he did with a pissed off at the world Rich Winter. He handled him like a maestro. Seriously, it was awesome. Winter was totally ready to rumble and Boomer just kept on asking questions as if everything was fine. It was tense to listen to at times. All revolved around Bryzgalov and the Flyers. After the interview he didn't even have any lingering closing negative comments about Winter's cheeky remarks. Despite his schtick of being a goof and laughing at himself, the guy's got some serious skills. I'd hate to see him go! I think they've got great chemistry.

I don't view it as bullying when everyone is in on it. The tone they are striving for is a bunch of guys palling around.
Pinder is the straight man on the show - it is a classic and often used element of comedy.

So you "know" everyone is in on it. Cool. I continue to state this is my opinion, nothing more. But I do not "know" that. Nor does my impressionable nephew who likes to listen on his way to school with his mom.
This is not 1995 anymore, socially conscious behavior is something that should be expected of all adults today, not just ones in the public eye.
But since they are just picking on the "straight man" I guess I am going to have to put my redneck ears on and enjoy it.
As for "palling around", any pals I ever had that talked to me/ treated me like that were not in my life for long. How about you?

Woah dude. Relax. I don't know why you are getting so defensive. No one is calling you a redneck except yourself.
You are welcome to your opinion and I'm quite sure I'm not going to change it. Nor am I interested in getting into an argument about it.
I was merely trying to explain what they are striving for - having worked in the industry, and on this station in fact - in this time slot as a fill-in (albeit with the old host).
When I did that - the host would typically explain to me what he was trying to do and my role in it (which was the straight man). It was actually a lot of fun and I never took offense to it. It was all in good fun and designed to produce the most entertaining show possible.
Now I get that bullying is something folks are more sensitive too now - and for good reason. Where that precise line is can be tough sometimes to gauge. I don't think these guys cross it - but that's my opinion.

Maybe they could take Rhett off our hands if we threw in a draft pick.

Bits happen when everyone is in on the joke. It's not bullying. I'm sure if it was Rogers would stop it immediately because lawyers.

They all get picked on. Rhett for being a lazy slob, Boomer for being fat, Pinder for being a "nerd". Its all part of the show.

this would be my read as well, they kind of make fun of each other. I almost feel like Warrener gets the brunt of any and all jokes.

Not every show/product/etc... Is for everyone. They do a lot of market research to determine the demographic they're catering to as well as how well they're doing to engage that demographic. I think it's pretty clear they're aiming for the guys guy who hangs out in the dressing room for a few beers after the game and likes a good steak every now and then. 90% of those guys will like the show and 10% won't. They can't please everyone all the time. If it's not your speed, then I'd recommend the 660 sports programs for you.

Hope he stays.
I think a large part of his value to the show is the ability to converse with Rhett. Pinder can mesh with any new host imo, but I worry that drawing out the good info / insight from Rhett requires a touch that Boomer has perfected.

Rhett actually is the brunt of far more teasing than Pinder. Really they all make fun of each other it's not a big deal, it's all in good fun.
I like Boomer, he can be slightly annoying at times but I think it's more a function of having to talk about the same things over and over and getting bored.
I like Rhett and wish he'd contribute more. Sometimes I forget he's there. Particularly his stories about being an NHLer.

He's said more offensive things over the years and Richards more in one show. Honestly do you really think that he wanted the Riders plane to crash? It was just Boomer being Boomer in the heat of Stamps/Riders rivalry talk. I don't know if I would have said that if I was him but at the same time it was a harmless comment that got blown out of proportion by Rider fans. If it really was as offensive as you think Rogers wouldn't have slapped him on the wrist by giving him a holiday and we wouldn't be talking about him getting promoted to Toronto.
