I think we will be at 88.4% on sports stat club after tonight.

If you look at 96 points being the bench mark the flames only have to go 4 games over .500 the rest of the season.

So we won in 6 games, does the Chicago game carry over and become game 1?

The goal has to be to win some in shorter order (like they just did) to increase the number of series and points that can be gained from each 7 game set, should we want to use this as a tracker to make the playoffs. Having a few Freebie games at then end of sets that end early seems silly to me. But either way, still fun to come in here and watch the tracking

I think the point of it to not take the individual losses too hard, and to keep the losing streaks to a minimum, if you loss 3 or 4 games in a row you will loss your series. If you can consistently win these 7 game sets, then you should be prepared to the extreme highs and lows the Playoffs will bring.

If we start the next series with Chicago, it might help solve the problem of 82 not being divisible by 7

Chicago - L
Devils - W
@ Ducks - L
@ Sharks - W
@ Coyotes - W
Coyotes - W
Avalanche - W

We win another series in 6 games and the Avalanche game counts against the next series.

11 7-game sets, win 44 = 88 points
1 5-game set, win 3 = 6 points

That's 94 without counting pity points, and they have two of those already. If memory serves, no team has ever missed the NHL playoffs with 96 points or more.

But if too many series don't go the full 7 games, we'll have the same problem all over again.

Hartley doesn't split the series up. Nothing wrong with winning a 7 game set 5-2.

Well, won that series 4-3.

Next 7:
New Jersey
@Anaheim
@San Jose
@Arizona
Arizona
Colorado
San Jose

Possibly an even bigger series than the one just gone because we have 5 of our divisional rivals to play. Well, 2 of them twice, but you get my drift.

Some winnable games in there. Hopefully get 6-8 points from the games v Arizona, Colorado and New Jersey, then whatever we can from the 3 games against the California teams.

Not sure if your post was attempting to contradict mine or back it up. Cause reading, I felt it backed up my argument

No, I was contradicting you. If the Flames finish the season with 47 wins (which is what they will do if they win the first 11 series in 7, the last one in 5), and get no loser points except the two they already have, they will have 96 points. Nobody has ever missed the playoffs with 96, as I said.

On top of that, we know they're going to have more OT and SO losses before the season is over. If they have 47 wins, they're pretty much certain to get enough loser points to bring them up to 100 – which puts them in the playoffs easily.

Your calculations are off.
