Bad defense, but that was an awesome shot.

Really? That was about as obvious as it gets imo.

That should have been a penalty on Anaheim, hitting from behind.

Flames were the better team that period.

Not a popular opinion, but considering how slow both were coasting in, meh. Jackman has to know where Smid is and protect himself, especially, again, how slow they are crusing in. Hardly a push from behind, Smid got the arm up a bit but Jackman puts his head down too as he goes straight into the boards. Not sure what else Smid should do, without not touching him at all and letting Jackman have the puck without resistance.

Great period by the Flames. Just the one defensive lapse which led to Anaheim's goal. No biggie. Flames will tie this up.

I love watching this team so much. I know they're down by one... but they were the better team in the 1st period by a significant margin... and they're 32 points behind the Ducks in the standings.

I'm convinced Bouma is the best shot blocker in the league.

Also earlier in that shift he received a hit to the head that should have been a penalty especially after Smid's.

Brodie looked very bad on that play. Happens so rarely I thought I'd mention it.

On second look your right, but Smid was supposed to let the player go no matter who it was? I agree with Jeff O'Neill for once...what was he supposed to do?

Look how much Smid slows down, he has zero intent to hurt him, he's respecting Jackman and letting him get the puck. Once he starts to curve behind the net, Smid has to take him out. It's called playing defence.

If you can't make that play, I have no clue how he's supposed to stop Jackman there, then.

Jackman's more at fault for putting his damn head down when he knows Smid's about to engage him.

Not to mention the head snap back like Hulk Hogan slammed his head into a turnbuckle. A shot from behind but not to the head. It was the back of the shoulder.

If any injury was going to occur on that play it was from Jackman moving his neck so fast.
