Give him time. I think we can't really evaluate him when he's playing on that line and getting those minutes.

Yeah to quote the wire what F did horak do to be sent down?
When the flames asked him to round out his defensive game he did exactly that. He could be better at face offs but I really don't see him as any kind of liability on the ice plus he has a lot of offense of upside. Other than a few really high-caliber prospects I don't see anyone else in the organization at his age range that shows more promise.
What I wouldn't give to read the internal scouting notes on him. There I s obviously there's a ton of stuff that I'm missing. And I'm starting to get into the in Weisbrod we trust mode of thought so I don't really want to second-guess.

He better pick it up, as of now he would clear waivers with ease and ubber rich daddy won't be happy visiting Alaska to watch him play.

I'll wait until the 20 game mark before casting him off. I think he's getting more comfortable out there; Hartley seems to be easing him into more minutes.

Hartley seems to be easing the rookies into minutes as they come, give Colborne some time before we cast him away, there's potential there and if we tap into it thats awesome. If not well we can send him down and let someone else have a chance.

I'm not too concerned about Colborne at the moment. He's still finding his way and learning the system. I hope to see him take some steps forward in the upcoming road trip.
He's going to be a project.

I think it says good things about our team that we're even talking about him.

Huh? Easing him into more minutes? Less minutes is more like it. The more Hartley sees of Colborne, the less he plays him.

I don't think Horak was bad last year or in pre-season but much like Colborne so far he hasn't shown me any reason that he needs to be in the NHL. I found him to be enitrely invisible for the most part which is good from a stand point that he isn't making big errors out there but you probably want to show more if you want a spot in a crowded forward group.

He went 4-6 in the faceoff dot at least. If you're going to get limited minutes, better do the little things right

Still don't know what your Jooris, Hanowski and Cundari examples had to do with Colborne, but I agree there is a similarity to Knight.
Regardless, my concern isn't so much whether or not we traded a 4th for someone's prospect. From the beginning my concern was the "meritocracy" and how this looks to me like Burke's vanity project.
But perhaps I have to accept that the people sent to Abby are indeed rather awful and deserved to get beaten out by a player that wasn't in camp.

Still looks like a guy thinking too much on the ice, and I'm not sure his conditioning is where it needs to be to play Hartley's system.
Hartley skated the crap out of this team in preseason to get them ready and you can see that Colborne just isn't quite there yet.

No, you need to accept that today isn't forever. Being sent to Abby isn't a failure or an indictment. I have never understood why fans get so worked up over who gets sent down at the beginning of the year - it will change.
Colborne is here and Horak is in Abby because of contracts - big deal. Because that only applies to today - the best players will end up on the Flames.
But we have to give it time to play out.

I would agree with this. Horak needs to start bringing something noticeable to the table if he wants to be an NHL regular. He's solid in just about every aspect, but doesn't stand out in any one particular thing. Until he starts being a difference maker in a game he probably needs to keep working on it in Abbotsford.
Not saying that Colborne is much better, but at least he can handle the size in the NHL where Horak cannot. Give it time.

Its Ben Street that took Horak's Spot. If horak were getting 4th line duties and Colborne's icetime then hes better off in the AHL

There's something there in Colborne that is very good. Time and opportunity is all he needs. He will need to earn but he can be a player for sure. Guessing it's a confidence thing too.
