Sounds like a script for radio.

Balut-

An egg with a half developed duck embryo inside. Once was enough.

Cow brain tacos. Yea..... Texture like very fine mashed potatoes in a sausage skin. They were nasty.

Uni, and Durian are pretty sick as well as previously mentioned by others.

As for the most disgusting looking thing I have tried that was actually not bad.

Century Egg:

Just tastes like a regular egg surprisingly.

Well Gopher is not the other white meat.

And it definitely doesn't taste like chicken.

MRE or IMP?

Ugh my wife loves these things. I've had jellyfish, duck tendons, chicken feet, sea slug, and cows stomach (pretty good actually) at her behest, but century egg is where I draw the line.

Squid has to be cleaned and cooked properly. I have had some pretty gross squid before where the ink sack wasn't removed properly and it is kind of gritty. If it's over cooked, it also gets rubbery.

Ligne na Zaru is my addiction though. I urge you to give it a shot if you ever visit Croatia (or other countries in the area, but it is probably called something else):

Spoiler!

Century eggs are great, but I tip my hat to anyone who has eaten balut. That is one of the least appealing foods I have ever heard of. One or two of my Pilipino friends had eaten them numerous times and defended them, but only a little. It just seems horrific.

I won't even touch the Balut. I know I would spit it out immediately.

Here in California, people are all about chia seeds for the omega 3 fatty acid content. I had a piece of salmon crusted in chia seeds and I couldn't even finish it...and I LOVE salmon. Stupid chia seeds ruined my favourite food.

Used to hate it as a kid, but now I love it in congee. Tastes awesome. I do agree us Asians have some pretty weird foods, but there's this saying in Chinese (and I' probably butchering it): the only things with four legs Chinese people don't eat are tables and chairs.

With the population as big as it is in Asia, I'm guessing they kind of have to eat what's given to them in their environment. I can't imagine eating insects, but apparently, they are an excellent source of nutrients. So from a planet sustainability perspective, it'd be beneficial if more people ate insects on a regular basis.

The MRE's I could count down the worst one being the corn beef hash.

sphagetti and meatballs was ok but the spoon was way to short.

There was a bacon and scrambled egg one that was bloody awful.

The best part though was that each MRE had two smokes packed in it and powdered gatorade.

I always throught they were a bad idea because they were so bulky, you couldn't pack more then a couple of days worth in your ruck.

Terrible terrible food.

I heard that American Marine issued MRE are so terrible that marines consider them to be chemical warfare devices.

Could be wrong though, I don't remember our MRE's coming with that heater in the pack.
