Look on the bright side, that would give you 17 years of work as an unemployed astrophysicist, or a poorly paid one doing grade-school tours, until you retired

No. I think it is fear of Annemurray Ball retraction syndrome. It affects males that attend her concerts. It can lead to hyper-vaginal growth upon multiple exposures. A real valid fear.

It could be album of the year for somebody though. I've got an album from a guy that sold fish out of a truck at the side of the road that was the album of the year that summer for me. Got it free too, with a bag of shrimp, because the printing company misprinted the CD liner, and he figured he couldn't sell them.
The tour the world part is a bit tougher, admittedly.

Read this book. Your problem is simply not immersing yourself in the initial learning stages intensively enough:

On October 10, 2007, Murray announced that she would embark on her final major tour. She toured in February and March 2008 in the U.S., followed by the "Coast-to-Coast – One Last Time" tour in April and May in Canada.[27][28] Anne Murray's final public concert was held at the Sony Centre in Toronto on May 23, 2008.

Now maybe, just maybe, she will change her mind like Leonard Cohen did. (Who had also been on my bucket list and I thought was one I'd never get to check off). But I think it would take something as drastic as what happened to Leonard (his business manager ran off with all his money, leaving him virtually bankrupt).
Being from Nova Scotia, she is obviously was a larger-than-life icon and my parents had her 8-tracks constantly in play.

Same situation for me. It was my plan from 13 until I grew past the maximum height and was pretty bummed after that.
Life has been pretty great for me, but am still fascinated by flying. Dream is to buy a T-6 Harvard (yellow WWII trainer) and take to the skies

I am not as miserable as I seem sometimes...lol. I am happy with what I am doing, and do well at it, it just was never my first choice.

I'm so old we had these tests while I was in elementary school. I was devastated when I couldn't "pass" the test. Not so much because of the limitations it put on me, but more because it made me different from the rest of the kids.

I knew I could never be a professional athlete, but when I was a bit younger there was still always the "chance" that I could be a pro in some sport.
Now in my mid 20s, there is certianty that I will never be a pro athelete and all the new rookies are 3 or 4 years younger than me. I know I'm not old, but the realization hits hard now for some reason.

Not being able to sue the doctors who botched up my kid's medical care. Not being able to throat punch a few more of them, for their shathead crappery.

Ditto for banging a teenager. I mean, I could still but it's borderline on being kinda gross and creepy. I think I lost at high school.

Learning my native language. My parents never taught it to me growing up and I think I'm one of the few East Indian people that don't speak their mother tongue. My parents don't live in this city and I have no relatives here either. My dialect isn't offered on Rosetta Stone or any other online places that I have seen. I signed up for an intro class with the Indian Community Association but it was mainly a writing class and not a speaking class plus it was all 6 yr olds and I'm an adult so that didn't last very long either.
