Carolina is competing but their goaltending is awful

Goaltending has also been bad for Florida, Nashville, Tampa (at times) and to some extent Colorado as well.

Nothing more deflating than working your ass off and then one shot for the other tem and Bam.

Conversely, the Flames have had decent goaltending of late and - surprise - they are remaining cmpetitive

Looks like Edmonton will be one spot above the Flames (24th), after tonight in the standings

So on the Hot Stove, Healy just said regarding the heightened security that some Arenas are NBA arenas too, so they know how to do the wanding.

Did we just get some taxpayer funded subtle racism?

Pho up 2-1 on Chi - that would be a good result (we need the game against the Flames to matter to the Hawks)

However, we also need Chi to stay ahead of Pit (which they should be able to)

And the perfect result in Ott is an OT victory by the home team

Carolina plays TB tomorrow. If they could somehow come back against Phi, they could potentially catch us tomorrow.

Worst case scenario: they lose in regulation today, then beat TB tomorrow, then lose out the remainder of the year.

Second 3 point night from Jussi Jokinen in Penguins colors, now at 8 points in 6 games.

Crazy numbers for a waiver reject

Well isn't it funny how goaltending picks up when the players play defence....

No question. But they go hand in hand as well - good goaltending raises the confidence of the D, and bad goaltending crushes the D as they become afraid to make mistakes

At the UC...Mike Smith makes some surreal saves early...'Hawks do score, but then Klesla short hops Crawford from beyond the Red line, and shades of the '71 Habs beating Espo from mid-ice, the puck does a crazy hop in...later on just about the only sustained possession the Dogs had in the O-Zone, Vrbata wires one in...2-1 after one...

Same as yesterday, dominant puck possession is NOT leading to a dominant performance on the scoreboard, so far.

Wow, that was one bad backbreaking goal for Anderson to let in.

Ovi scores his 30th of the season. Pretty much unstoppable at this point.

You can almost taste the CBC excitement at this...the chance to dust off the 1967 tapes for the first time in 9 years.

The Leafs would fall fast if this season was 82 games... with those shots on net stats. You can't survive that way for long.
