Time to sit "Jordano" and put Sarich in for a couple. Let him watch the game for a couple and see if he can simplify his game when he comes back.

It's time for the coach to do what a good coach should do and send Gio to the press-box for a night and dress Sarich. Sven, Butler, Sarich, Smith, Cervenka, etc have all paid the price for a bad stretch and Gio's bad stretch is season long. Time for some accountability and the size of a guy's contract shouldn't factor in if his play is so bad that it's hurting the team. I'm just tired of the tiered discipline and sometimes you need to send a message to the high paid vets that substandard play won't be tolerated.

I've loved Gio for years, but I hardly recognize this player now. Did he get hit in the head recently? I don't think I've seen him make this many stupid plays in an entire season, let alone one game.
Gio needs a night away from the game to get his head on straight and realize that he doesn't need 5 minutes to make a decision with the puck. Put steady Sarich in. He might get beat with foot speed, but even he wouldn't screw up as much as Gio is these days.

The thing is I thought he was excellent before that brain fart. No idea why he even attempted such a stupid play, but he's been doing a lot of it for quite some time. He's always going against the grain instead of just straight up the boards or glass.
He needs to sit a game or two. He actually looks just as bad as Butler out there. And I've always been a huge Gio fan but we got to call a spade a spade. He's been terrible.

That's the nature of pro sports. Winning now is what's important. What have you done for me lately baby? It doesn't matter to me much today that you had a great season last year or the year before.

I just hope none of the scouts there last night were there specifically for Giordano, because he bombed badly.

Gio moved to top pairing minutes and top line opponents. As a third/fourth D he is excellent. Same with Butler, now that he is off the top pairing he is playing much better. This is not a coincidence!
There is a reason that J-Bo gets paid what he is paid. It's freaking hard to play those minutes against that competition. He is by far the best defenseman on our team (even when his offensive game was crap), Gio, Wideman, and Brodie and maybe even Butler are all good 3/4 guys. On the top pairing ALL would get exposed sometimes.
I actually thought Gio played a good game aside from his egregious gaffs...

It's not hate rather than just wanting him to spend a night in the press box to see the game from a distance and maybe collect himself. He's not playing well right now and it's hard to imagine Sarich being any worse in his own end right now.

I think you forget how awful Bubba was. He made Hale look like a competent defenseman in comparison.

You don't sit a player who is playing 22 minutes a night. I think they could scale back his ice to send a message. It would probably help his game too.

I think he needs to clear his head somehow. He's in one of those negative zones, you can see it in his body language, his self confidence is gone. He's trying to do too much to get out of it, wild shots from the half boards. He just needs to focus on doing the little things right and he'll get back to it. He's a better player than this. Unfortunately the Flames need him to get his crap together soon, he needs to be playing well for the team to be playing well.

Butler looks way better than Gio. Butler has been a rock in his own end.
Gio looks like garbage. Giving the puck up all the time, never making a good pass and icing the puck or turning it over. He loses his board battles and chases all game. Not playing physical and hitting shin pads with every shot. He is shooting when he should pass and when he does shoot and it happens to get through it hits the glass 10 feet wide of the net. He makes poor decision again and again. He has no confidence. Hartley needs to sit his ass on the bench for a period, and if that doesn't work, healthy scratch the son'a bitch

What message, "you suck", I think Gio already knows that. I think its in his head now. I think less ice time make it worse. He has to get confidence.

I would say that paragraph decribes Butler's game to a tee. That should be used in all those magazines/websites as a description for Butler.
Butler has been a rock in his end if you mean an immobile useless piece of crap.
