This is a very likely possibility...

Also, the more I think about this, the more I'm starting to question my needs. What I mean by that is, if I really want to get serious about incorporating the tablet space into my workflow, perhaps I should re-think my reliance on desktop apps (and thus, my reliance on tablet apps that work along side them).

Maybe I need to start looking more into solutions like Cloud9 and Basecamp.

Problem with web based stuff is I find that they're really written for the desktop class machine, seems anytime I do something with one of those on my phone or on a tablet (more-so a phone), it does usually work, mostly, but slow enough to make productivity a very relative term. Javascript still runs a lot faster on a desktop or laptop class CPU.

I'd say you'd be better off finding tightly coupled desktop/tablet apps.

OmniFocus on iOS and Mac is a great example of two apps that are tightly coupled together and offer an unparalleled workflow going between desktop/tablet/phone, for task management and scheduling.

VoodooPad (personal Wiki) is another good example of tight app coupling on the Mac and iPad - it's fantastic to have a personal wiki in your pocket that seamlessly syncs between Mac and iPad, and can edit live from both devices simultaneously.

I don't know if the same kind of app integration is abundant on Android though.

Cancelled my pre-order through the help line and picked one up at retail. There are some left at Staples harvest hill when I was there.

Anyone else think that Google had no idea demand would be this high?

It's shocking actually, a lot of people who usually are only aware of these things when Apple releases something similar, have been talking about.

I don't get it either, it's not like Google has anywhere near the aggressive marketing that Apple does either. Word of mouth probably because it's the best thing in the impulse buy price range.

Google sure knows how to market this thing... haha

My Dad who barely knows how to check his email was ranting about getting a Nexus and got me to order him one haha. Doubt he will know how to use it

Are there lots of ads for the Nexus? I usually skip past commercials on pvr so I haven't seen any for the Nexus, but it's surprising to me that so many people have heard of it.

By aggressive I meant more extensive. I see Apple ads on TV, internet, heck even in app ads on my android phone. I haven't seen a single ad for the Nexus 7 and somehow word has gotten around to everyone even near tech illiterate people I know.

I think the price point is right on, and to the borderline luddite, it's attractive enough that if it sits in your drawer forever after a week of playing with it, so what?

Hell, my mom ordered one when I told her I ordered one. That's like jumping from grinding your own flour and using dial-up internet to today.

Exactly.

Hell, you're still seeing new campaigns for the 4s.

The only way I ever see Google advertising their products is online with ads. And I have yet to see an add for the Nexus 7 tablet.

I learned about it on Engadget? I'm not even sure how my dad learned about it. I would assume on Google News. There was pretty good mainstream press coverage about it.

But still, demand is pretty crazy, even WITH press coverage.

So what does everyone that got an Nexus 7 think of it? Worth while? I'm debating on getting one. I might just get one because it's so cheap, but getting some reviews would be awesome.

Fantastic so far, I've never had a smoother and faster tablet. For the price nothing seems to beat it for it's feature set. Very well built and doesn't seem at as plasticky like a lot of Samsung products feel. If you're in need of a smaller tablet there isn't anything better in this size range right now. I've used a Galaxy Tab 2, Kindle Fire and Nook color prior to this.

That being said, if you want a bigger screen you should either wait for the rumored 10in Nexus or get an Transformer Infinity.

Is anyone else using another launcher besides stock? I tried Apex launcher but a few widgets like "my library" don't seem to work on it.

Sold out everywhere in US and Canada. Maybe ASUS has the production capacity to keep up. Check of NCIX, Bestbuy, Staples, Futureshop, Canada computers and memex all OOS/back ordered. Wanted to pick one up for parents but next allotment not apparently till August for a lot of these stores apparently. There are still people waiting on their "pre-orders"
