I'll wait and see before getting excited about the TSN announcement. Bell and Shaw can't even agree to let Shaw (and Telus?) subscribers log into to TSN GO yet, and while this may put pressure on Bell to do so, there currently isn't any way that I can benefit from it while remaining a Shaw subscriber.
And if there are any additional footy games on, hopefully they'll be available "on demand" because they'll be useless if streamed live for most of us on this continent.
I can see whay they need some extra capacity though. With 50% of the Premier League rights, they are often showing a couple of games on the web site only because their channels are already showing something else (often other Premier League games). Games turn up on TSN when they are on TSN2 on the cable guide, presumably because they had to switch something at the last minute, which is a nightmare of PVR-ing. And even though they've boasted that they're showing ALL Vancouver Whitecaps games on TSN this year, already two were on CTV BC and unavailable nationally, and the one a couple of weeks ago was joined at halftime because of NASCAR.
So I'll wait and see before getting excited. It sounds like great news for sports fans, but Bell is infamous for their vertical integration, so it wouldn't surprise me if non-Bell cable, mobile, and internet customers are screwed around a little.
