I'll wait and see before getting excited about the TSN announcement. Bell and Shaw can't even agree to let Shaw (and Telus?) subscribers log into to TSN GO yet, and while this may put pressure on Bell to do so, there currently isn't any way that I can benefit from it while remaining a Shaw subscriber.

And if there are any additional footy games on, hopefully they'll be available "on demand" because they'll be useless if streamed live for most of us on this continent.

I can see whay they need some extra capacity though. With 50% of the Premier League rights, they are often showing a couple of games on the web site only because their channels are already showing something else (often other Premier League games). Games turn up on TSN when they are on TSN2 on the cable guide, presumably because they had to switch something at the last minute, which is a nightmare of PVR-ing. And even though they've boasted that they're showing ALL Vancouver Whitecaps games on TSN this year, already two were on CTV BC and unavailable nationally, and the one a couple of weeks ago was joined at halftime because of NASCAR.

So I'll wait and see before getting excited. It sounds like great news for sports fans, but Bell is infamous for their vertical integration, so it wouldn't surprise me if non-Bell cable, mobile, and internet customers are screwed around a little.

So I've found a place to get what looks like pretty much all the games in a pretty timely fashion (not live), it looks very safe and reliable. If anyone is interested shoot me a PM.

It is time for the annual bump for the upcoming season!

TSN's coverage seems to be similar to years past: Two games per week, usually one live and one recorded. The first one is this Sunday morning at 0245 (Fremantle v. Port Adelaide). Some are already showing up on my PVR where I have an auto-recording set for "Australian Football" and it works like a charm. if you use Zap2It for your TV listings, for some reason the programme is named differently and is called "AFL Premiership Football".

There is no sign, at least initially, that TSN's extra channels will result in more footy being on. While more is always better, I'll admit to having my hands full with the two matches per week and it doesn't take long to get a backlog on my PVR.

Here is how Ladbrokes sees the league this year (odds to win Grand Final):

Hawthorn 4.00
Sydney 4.20
Port Adelaide 5.50
Fremantle 8.00
Geelong 13.00
North Melbourne 13.00
Adelaide 21.00
Richmond 26.00
Essendon 26.00
Gold Coast 26.00
West Coast 26.00
Collingwood 34.00
Carlton 51.00
Brisbane 67.00
Western Bulldogs 251.00
Greater Western Sydney 251.00
Melbourne 401.00
St Kilda 501.00

FYI I made a new thread since this one is stuck with an old title and I thought, new season why not a new thread.
