I am in Iceland right now on holiday and I must say this is possibly the best trip I have ever taken. If my wife wasn't pregnant right now the first part of the trip would have been a crazy party trip. We didn't get to the hotel last Friday until 2:00 am and the party only seemed to just be getting started. Reykjavik is amazing city for its size. Living in a city like London makes me appriciate the tourist stores here as most of them have lots of very nice merch with only a limited amount of typical tourist crap that you find overflowing a London tourist store. Hot dogs were great, one was not enough after I had my first bite.
Yesterday I went on a guided hike to this amazing area just outside of Reykjavik. It is a geothermal area where the streams are the temperature of a hot tub. Even the putrified shark wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be (only a slight urine taste). The blue lagoon is very cool but I wasn't as impressed with it as I have been with the country side, maybe because I know it is a man made phenomenon. Worth doing, but I don't know if I have any desire to go back to it.
Road trip time for the next couple days in the south. We did the golden circle attractions today with a very good dose of winter. Pretty good snow storm at Thingvellir made the hiking pretty limited (was hoping to spend most of the day there but it was snowing pretty hard with 10-20 cm already on the ground), but geyser was good and gullfoss was pretty amazing.
Here are a few photos (from my phone, can't download the photos from the cameras just yet). Everyone should come visit. And a big big thank you to Thor for answering a few questions I had. I can post more photos when I get back to the UK if people are interested. I already know that the next three days are not going to be enough, need to start thinking about my next trip.

Man you got soooo unlucky with this weather, its been so nice in spring with temps around 10c, and then BAM this week.. Glad your having fun though
The old blue lagoon when we used to go there in the 90's was very "wild" as there was a chain fence around the lagoon, no facilities other than a small hut where people could go in and change plus a few outhouses. There is a great trip for hikers in the summer at Landmannalaugar which is a must, it has a natural hot pool for afterwards too.
Once the interior is snow free there is so much more to do, so you'll have to come back

I was supposed to go to Reykjavik last year but unfortunately couldn't make it. Heard from a friend that the two main days are Friday's and Saturday nights down there, and they are an absolute blast. Apparently it's probably among the few places in the world where visible minorities (like me) are chic magnets and people are absolutely great. Unfortunately this year the prices to get there have been higher than normal. I'm really hoping I can check it out next year as a single guy, I've been told it's fantastic!
