To be fair the last time I called a Shaw person was years ago, internet seems to be pretty stable here so no need to call. Bell I only call once a year to get either NHLCI or NFLST for free. And with Telus has been great with both people I have spoken to (only with them a year or so).
If they are as bad as you say then it is probably time to switch but I've never had an example where I hang up and call back and always get a moron on the other end. Yes sometimes it can take 2-3 calls but it's worth it IMO to get what you want. I once had a person at Bell basically say they didn't care if I cancelled, I called back 5 minutes later and the new rep gave me NHLCI for free, $20 discount for 12 months and a free HD package. It's all about how much time you want to spend getting the right person, it sucks but it's worth it.
