Both of these are so true. If you don't like what the rep is telling you hang up and try again. I know we all want perfect service the first time but it just isn't going to happen. When you are in any business of serving millions of people with tens of thousands of employees you are not going to give everyone satisfaction all the time, especially when it comes to services like telecom.

Having Bell for TV, Shaw for internet and Telus for cell phone I can guarantee you one is not better than the other. I have the same annoying and great experience with all of them. My advice is don't give up on what you want and don't be affraid to pull the "I'm cancelling card" even if you have no intention to do so. It's not like they cancel it on the spot you still have 30 days to call their bluff.

Really? From Shaw even? Shaw customer service IMO is hands down the worst of any major company I've ever dealt with. I realize that you can't make everyone happy but how about not pissing everyone off?

It's kind of a crime how the major telecom providers in the country can get away with substandard service and not face any consequence. Like has been said quiting one to go to the other and expecting better service is essentially futile and the fact they all suck serves as no motivation for any of them to improve as why spend more money and resources on improving customer service when you know the competition is no better and that money can instead go into improving the company line.

I was just being nice so MMF and Oilkiller didn't jump all over me.

To be fair the last time I called a Shaw person was years ago, internet seems to be pretty stable here so no need to call. Bell I only call once a year to get either NHLCI or NFLST for free. And with Telus has been great with both people I have spoken to (only with them a year or so).

If they are as bad as you say then it is probably time to switch but I've never had an example where I hang up and call back and always get a moron on the other end. Yes sometimes it can take 2-3 calls but it's worth it IMO to get what you want. I once had a person at Bell basically say they didn't care if I cancelled, I called back 5 minutes later and the new rep gave me NHLCI for free, $20 discount for 12 months and a free HD package. It's all about how much time you want to spend getting the right person, it sucks but it's worth it.

I have found Shaw to be the best. I used to work for TELUS a long time ago as well. Had both services. I have never had any problem with Shaw in years. Not one. Everybody is different though.

It is true about who you talk to . You might get a person in a great mood who gives you a better deal than others. If you do it too much you might get an email or a talkin to by management, but I used to give out crazy stupid deals to people I knew. Nobody ever told me not to do it even though I did more than I was supposed to.

I guess that was because I always exceeded my targets.

I have had TELUS no show for appointments, etc. I don't deal with them for anything anymore.

I'm back in Calgary visiting my parents for a few weeks and their internet is crap. I'm on their wired desktop and it disconnects every so often for sometimes a minute to two or longer. I've talked to technical support about this and they couldn't detect anything on their end and they would monitor it and see if they could find anything. Nothing.

I downloaded Shaw Support and it logged some problems so maybe if you guys could help me decipher what this jumble means (I'm not an IT guy)

Anyone know what I can do? I have this problem hardwired or wireless. Internet also isn't very fast. I'm pretty frustrated at Shaw.

I'm going crazy with my Shaw services right now. Also was crazy with Telus as their internet was bloody slow but at least it doesn't disconnect every time I use the computer.
