I don't know enough about Canadian politics to make any sense of that. Douglass and Broadbent are both left wingers? Is that it?
Vidal thinks Kennedy was a horrible President, did Broadbent think of Douglas as horrible? I doubt that. Or did you not watch the video and think it was just Vidal praising Kennedy?

Thought to be one of the single most influential people in early Rock and Roll. He only recorded 3 albums while alive and was really only successful for a year and a half before "The Day the Music Died"

Ahh yes, I must have missed it. Especially considering that Buddy Holly and the Crickets were the main influence in The Beatles...I though he would get more than just a passing mention.
There are mentions of him in many ancient Roman accounts and letters; the writings of Tacitus, Pliny the Younger and others. Jewish historians in the first century reference the existence of a man named Jesus who was put to death, and rumored to be called 'the Christ'.
These sources suffer from the same issues as all ancient texts, but there's enough writing that pops up at more or less the same time that corroborates the existence of a guy named Jesus who was executed by Romans, and that the aftermath of that event caused some issues.
Now, it's far less likely that he was actually God in human form, but he was around at some point.
