I really wish there was a better "system" for when it came to hearing about players situations like Nemisz, Wahl, Bancks, etc.

He's out because of a lower body injury he suffered Wednesday in San Antonio.
This really sucks the big one. The Heat need an impact player like Nemisz if they expect to get anywhere close to making the playoffs.

Tonight Abby wins 5-4:
ABB:G. Patterson (03:16 1st), T. Brodie (08:29 2nd), Q. Laing (04:30 3rd), C. Cunning (10:01 3rd), A. Kotalik (19:14 3rd)HOU:J. DiSalvatore (01:39 2nd), J. DiSalvatore (10:43 2nd), C. Rau (02:29 3rd), J. Palmer (06:33 3rd)
I know Brodie got an assist too, but not sure who the other assists were. Glad to see them bounce back today.

Are the Heat in a playoff spot right now? What place are they in?

Howse now has a career high 30 assist and has tied his goal total from last year (47)

No they are currently 5th in the division. Only 3 points behind the first place team though. Going to have to have a strong finish to the season if they are going to make the playoffs.

The Heat's playoff chances are very much up in the air. However, they are hot right now, and if they keep playing the way they have, they'll make it.
Here's how the AHL playoff format works: http://www.letsgoamerks.com/2010/07/...0-2011-season/
Quote:
The Eastern Division will have eight teams and the Atlantic will only have seven this coming season. What the cross over rule means is that the fifth place team in the East would make the playoffs if it has more points than the fourth place team in the Atlantic. That means that five teams could make the playoffs in the East and only three in the Atlantic.
The same thing applies for the West and North Divisions. If the fifth place team in the North has more points than the fourth place team in the West Division the fifth place team will make the playoffs.
|
Currently (March 7, 2011), the Heat are in 5th place. They must get into 4th place in the North division to make it. Here's the link: http://theahl.com/stats/statdisplay....s&season_id=34
The Heat are 1 point out of 4th, and only 3 points out of 1st place in the North.
However, if the Heat do finish 5th, they will not make the playoffs due to their lack of points in relation to the West division.

Dose anyone know, is there any chance any of our college prospects (C J Severyn, Nicholas Larson, Aaron Marvin ) could end up in Abby yet this year?
Also, what about Jordan Fulton, is he still a prospect for the Flames.
Thanks

Fulton is no longer a Flames prospect. I think he is somewhere in the ECHL playing IIRC.
Severyn and Marvin are both in the final years of NCAA so they could potentially join the Heat at some point. Larson I doubt would be considered as this is only his 2nd year and I doubt he leaves school to go pro.

The AHL announced the Heat's Clear Day List (players eligible to play during playoffs):
G Leland Irving
G J.P. Lamoureux
D Gord Baldwin
D Chris Breen
D T.J. Brodie
D John Negrin
D Matt Pelech
D Joe Piskula
F Mikael Backlund
F Carter Bancks
F Lance Bouma
F Kris Chucko
F Cam Cunning
F Matt Keith
F Ales Kotalik
F Quintin Laing
F Stefan Meyer
F Greg Nemisz
F Gaelan Patterson
F MacGregor Sharp
F Ryan Stone
F Mitch Wahl
Injuries to Bancks, Chucko and Wahl means three others can draw into spots in their stead (on "emergency basis")

Interesting no Keetley on that list. Maybe his days with this organization are numbered.

^that or his knee injury has ended his season?
Feaster's desire to sign Ortio, there really isn't room for Keetley after this season

PatrickHolland has been a pretty special player for the Tri-City Americans. Crazy good puck handler, 20 goals and 36 assists. Might try to pass a little too often in my eyes as he could easily have 30 goals this season!

Bill Arnold scored this weekend for his 10th goal of the year. Now he has 10g 8a...
I think we got a steal out of this pick. He was a 2nd round ranked player that fell to the fourth. Would have liked to pick up Vey with one of those 4th rounders or the 3rd we used on Leach, but what can you complain about when all of your picks look like players, not to mention we had no 1st or second last year.
That was a really productive draft: Reinhart ppg Centreman, Leach .5ppg def dman, john ramage dman Captain of the USA WJC team, Bill Arnold 10 goals and 18 points so far in freshman season, Michael Ferland PPG LW light heavy weight for brandon, Karlsson a valuable back up goaltender with upside, and patrick holland near ppg player for a 7th rounder.
