Oezil was amazing!!!! I heard a lot about this kid.
Oezil is of Turkish decent but is born in germany.
I also think Podoloski's family is of german minority decent.

Podolski was born to Krystyna Podolska, a former member of the Polish national handball team and Waldemar Podolski, former Polish football professional and the 1980 champion of Poland with Szombierki Bytom, in the Silesian industrial town of Gliwice (near Katowice), Poland. His paternal family belongs to the German minority in Upper Silesia. In 1987, when Łukasz Podolski was two years old, his family emigrated from Poland to West Germany and was given Aussiedler status,[4] but Podolski said in 2008 that he also has Polish blood.[5] Podolski grew up in Bergheim, North Rhine-Westphalia, and later in Pulheim, both near Cologne.[6] He still has Polish citizenship, but he travels with a German passport

And this is about Klose
Quote:
Born in Oberschlesien, Klose plays for the German national team. He is German by birth and qualified for selection by the German national team because of the German nationality of his father.

I didn't think green text was necessary
Players playing for different countries is a non-issue since really most players can choose more than one. You only need one grandparent from a certain place! Or gain citizenship in a place.
Any of us could go to Gabukistan, get citizenship there after 5 years(?) and then be eligible to play for them.

Gotta try and get up tomorrow to watch Holland. Should be a good one.
I like watching the National Anthems. Not only do the players totally butcher it but it's fun seeing the UNICEF kids come out and lineup. The other day in the Argentina match, after the anthem the players jump up and down the get loose again, the kids are jumping up and down too!

Thank god for PVRs. I don't know if I could pull that one off, I think it's a 4 am start in BC but that is one of the early matches I am most looking forward to.
I heard Robben was out for a game or two and thought the dutch might struggle without him and then I read that van der Vaart was the replacement. He'd probably be the best player on half the teams in the tournament - amazing depth.

Credit the Asians, they learned from the Portuguese about nationalizing Brazilians to improve their odds of winning.

FIFA is looking in on those stupid horns. I really want to punch the a hole that created those things. Makes watching the game horrible.

1 or 2 is annoying, 30-40000 of them is different. I find it a part of the charm of these games, although I might be alone in that.
Let the bees swarm.

Man every game I've watched in this world cup has been boring as hell. Dutch-Danes is a sleeper. I think one of the things I don't like about soccer is the lack of any type of scoring chances. And when you get a scoring chance they're usually boring too. Like a chance from a corner kick.

It's not soccer's fault. The Dutch have absolutely no ideas. Interesting to see the Danes park the bus and play defensive. They're usually one of the more attacking European sides. I've mentioned this before, I like Kuyt for Liverpool but he's absolutely been useless for Holland. Can't do anything on this right flank.
Wouldn't surprised me if the Danes pinched one in the 2nd half.

As much as the commentator is telling us how bad this game is, I find his commentary even worse.

Ok here's my own anti-soccer rant.
It's the stupid coaches.
It's messed up how these coaches think going into these matches. Let's go for a 0-0 tie but if they score we'll put on the good players as subs and try to equalize.
Denmark is a talented team and the Dutch are always weak on defense. Why not take the game to them from the start and maybe win the thing? Like how Ghana took it to the Serbs for example.
To me it just seems like Denmark lost this match before they even stepped on the field and it bored the heck out of everyone.

Obviously you didnt watch Germany vs Australia. That game was great, unless you're an Aussie fan, they really laid an egg that game and the Germans just beat them down.

the round 1 games can always be tentative because these aren't club teams, the European and I think South American teams haven't played a competitive match since october, and the African ones since January or early february
once they gel it will get better
